For the last 2.5 years, I’ve been developing a live-action survival thriller completely solo. To capture the raw reality of the project, I spent exactly 40 days shooting alone in the wilderness. With no camera crew, my DJI gear literally had to become my cinematographer. I hauled my setup across 4 different Turkish cities. I spent the longest and most grueling stretch in the massive block forests of Karabük, and even traveled to a completely different city solely to film a single, freezing river sequence. It wasn't always a flawless experience—sometimes it was an absolute battle against the tech—but here is how the ecosystem performed for the footage you see in this video: * **The Drone & Intelligent Tracking:** The DJI Flip drone and its intelligent tracking system were my absolute go-to for capturing behind-the-scenes footage and those iconic, wide tracking shots you see on the Steam page. Being completely alone, it was the only way I could professionally and effectively capture my grueling progression through the deep woods. It’s an amazing system, but not without its terrifying quirks: when I had it hovering very close to the water for the river scenes, the downward sensors got confused by the reflection, and the drone just started drifting on its own. * **DJI RS 4 Mini Combo:** For the tight, character-following sequences, balancing my Sony FX30 on this gimbal and using the Intelligent Tracking Module was a lifesaver. Using hand gestures to start/stop tracking meant I didn't have to break character. However, it definitely had a mind of its own. Right in the middle of a serious, emotional take, the gimbal would occasionally just start shaking its head or completely tilt the FX30 straight down to point at the ground. * **DJI Osmo Action 4:** I put this thing through hell. The river submersion shots, the raw FPV falls, and physically tossing a bag off a cliff—all shot on the Action 4. After all that abuse, it survived the wilderness with just a few minor scratches. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the cinematography, or hear if you guys have had similar tracking quirks when pushing your gear to its limits!

DJI is facing a potential U.S. ban on all new products, effective December 23, 2025, if a mandated federal security audit is not completed by then. As of late November 2025, no U.S. government agency has initiated the required audit, making an automatic ban highly likely. Current Situation and the December 23 Deadline Legislative Trigger: Section 1709 of the FY2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), signed in December 2024, requires an "appropriate national security agency" to complete a security determination of DJI's products within one year. Automatic Ban Mechanism: If this audit and determination are not completed by December 23, 2025, DJI will be automatically added to the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC's "Covered List"). Impact of the Covered List: Inclusion on the Covered List would effectively ban new DJI products and models from receiving the necessary FCC equipment authorizations to be imported and sold in the U.S.. This is expected to impact all DJI products that use communications equipment, including drones and camera equipment. Audit Stalemate: Despite DJI's repeated and public requests for a fair and transparent audit, no federal agency has taken responsibility for conducting the review, creating a "legislative gap" that could lead to a ban by default. Implications for DJI Users Existing Products: Drones and products already owned will likely remain legal to use and operate; the FCC has indicated it will not confiscate consumer equipment. However, long-term support, including firmware updates and availability of spare parts, could be at risk. New Purchases: The ban would primarily affect new product introductions and imports. An October 2025 FCC ruling also gives the commission power to retroactively ban existing models from being sold or imported on a case-by-case basis after a public comment period. Supply Chain Issues: The supply of DJI products is already inconsistent due to separate U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) enforcement actions under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) throughout 2025, which has caused stock shortages at major retailers. DJI is urging U.S. users to contact their lawmakers to advocate for a fair, evidence-based process or an extension to the deadline.

I've been a Pocket 3 user for a while and overall a DJI fan. Once I started looking into 360 cameras though, it was tougher to make up my mind. I ended up buying both the Insta360 X5 and the DJI osmo 360 with the idea of living with them for a bit and eventually giving one of them away to my brother. Both were fun in the initial "honeymoon phase". I’d just shoot everything and figure it out later. But after a few weeks, once the novelty wore off, some stuff I didn’t initially consider started to matter more. Lens protection was a bigger deal than I expected. Since the osmo 360 doesn’t have replaceable lenses, that became a point of concern. I bought lens covers for it. That gave me peace of mind as far as protection, but definitely affected the image quality. This is a major oversight by DJI. Since replaceable lenses became a thing, it's a must-have on 360 cams. What pushed me toward keeping the X5 in the end was the overall experience. Shooting 360 means dealing with a lot of clips, and with the X5, reviewing, reframing, and exporting is easier and less annoying. I had assumed DJI would be stronger on software, but Insta360’s experience with 360 really shows. Desktop editing on both still isn’t great though. The Osmo 360 isn't a bad camera, but when putting them head to head, I kept reaching for the X5 more often. I appreciated being able to focus on what I was recording instead of worrying about breaking the lenses or bad image quality from lens guards or how to deal with the footage afterward. I'm curious to know what the community thinks. Have you compared these two models, and what ended up mattering more to you?

I own a DJI Osmo Action 4 and I'm trying to capture motovlog clips, but I'm struggling with footage stability when mounting the camera in different positions on my motorcycle. The footage remains quite shaky despite my current setup. **Current Configuration:** * Camera: DJI Osmo Action 4 * Stabilization: Rocksteady disabled, post-processing stabilization via Gyroflow in DaVinci Resolve * Resolution: 4K in 4:3 aspect ratio * Frame rate: 24 FPS * Shutter speed: 1/50 (tested up to 1/160) * Gyroflow smoothness: 50.0 I've run multiple tests and increased the shutter speed, but the results haven't improved significantly. Hi everyone, I have decided to start taking some amateur shots and photos in my moments and travels. I would like to get an action cam that allows me to document my moments, my life, workouts and my travels. I have seen these two action cam models and I would like to ask you for advice starting from the economic discussion up to which of the two is the best to start with. I've never used an action camera before. The models I saw are Osmo Pocket 3 and Osmo Action 4. Do you have any tips and advice to give me? Thanks so much everyone!

Here's a sample frame grab from the M1P in low-light mode: 8K, 30 FPS, Auto ISO, sharpness set to minimum, and manual WB. It is exceptional compared to all other GoPro models. While it is very similar to the Insta360 Ace Pro 2, it falls short of the DJI Osmo Pocket 4, which is incredible in low light. How does it compare to, let's say, a Sony a7S II with an f/2.8 lens? Well, there's no comparison—the Sony wins by miles. However, my expectations were tempered, and it performs very similarly to the Ace Pro 2. Using the standard video mode and pushing it in low light with manual settings while using the GP-Log2 mode yields even better results. You can really push the sensor, so to speak. If you want super clean video, you can always use a tool like AI noise reduction in DaVinci Resolve. But the out-of-the-box low-light mode is very good if you just want usable video without all the hassle in post-production. Now, all things considered, I have concerns with the ILS model in less-than-ideal lighting. I think the native sensor noise would simply be too high compared to what you'd get with, at minimum, a decent DSLR. Speed boosters would certainly help you gain half an f-stop or possibly more, depending on the lens and booster combination. For what it's worth (FWIW), consider that broadcast cameras using B4 lenses have a ton of glass but only produce a tiny 10mm image circle. Logically, they should suck in low light, yet they don't. This is because you're squeezing a lot of light from the large surface area of the lens front—which is usually 90–110mm depending on the lens—down into that tiny circle. It’s essentially a magnifying glass effect. Even though the CCD/CMOS sensor is smaller and each photosite gets less light compared to a sensor with larger photosites, the increased intensity of the light offsets that size deficiency. Therefore, with the ILS model, if you use larger lenses with a bigger image circle and squeeze it down to closer match the 1-inch sensor, you're getting more light intensity. In theory, you could turn an f/4 lens into an f/2 in terms of light gathering. Where the M1P really excels, in my opinion, is in the evening; I think that's where most users will see the benefit. On a bright, clear day, the Hero series used to start falling apart in deep shadows about 40 minutes before sunset. This camera, however, works really well through sunset and into dusk, which is great. All in all, I'm very pleased.

I got the Ace Pro 2 as a Christmas gift from my girlfriend and have been using it for a while. Here’s my honest take. 1. I barely touch the settings. I don’t really adjust iso or anything like that. Auto just works most of the time, which makes it super convenient and low effort. 2. As a tool for everyday life recording, it’s been really solid. It’s small and easy to carry, which I expected, but what surprised me was the wide angle. I honestly thought I wouldn’t get used to it. Turns out it’s totally fine. The wider view captures more of the scene, and the distortion actually makes shots feel more lively. Once you get used to it, it feels very natural to shoot with. 3. Photos were the biggest surprise for me. The built-in looks are actually usable, and I’ve been shooting photos straight out of camera way more than I expected. The two Leica looks in particular have a really nice vibe. One thing I should mention is that I usually shoot photos on my phone, so I’m used to zooming in, checking details, and worrying about sharpness and noise. I definitely brought that mindset with me at first. But after using the Ace Pro 2 for a while, I realized that an action cam is mostly used while moving, with changing light and non-static scenes. In those situations, I started caring more about how stable and consistent the footage feels as a whole, rather than whether a single frame is perfectly sharp. That honestly changed my shooting habits a bit, lol. If the clip feels smooth and holds together, I’m happy. From a camera perspective, aside from the wide angle not being great for very close-up shots, I’ve been pretty satisfied so far. There are also a lot of accessories you can pair with it, and I’m still figuring out which ones to get. Curious for Ace Pro 2 users, what ended up mattering more to you over time? Any settings, looks, or accessories you’ve actually stuck with?

I did buy a osmo pocket 3 which I had for 11 months and only used it around 5 times before the internal battery got faulty. I genuinely loved the pocket 3 it's just beautiful but I don't think DJI test their products to improve problems they just want to make money quick! So I returned it and they couldn't fix it and I got a refund. I want something small and portable so vlog for travelling, to show food, people I interact with etc. I'm down to 3 options. GoPro hero 13, inst360 ace pro 2, and insta360 go ultra. Unfortunately I have been to a few places to see the camera but they don't let you test them so I don't know what it's like other than watch a lot of unpaid/ honest reviews on all of them. Can anyone advise what do you think I should go with? I even asked chatgpt but it gave a very vague answer. I wish all these 3 were combined. I would like the internal hardware from GoPro 13, the design from go ultra and the specs from ace pro 2. Someone help!

I’ve been looking at the DJI Action 5 Pro and the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 as a possible upgrade from my older action cam. Most of my use is pretty casual: travel clips, city walks, short rides, night streets, and indoor to outdoor shots. Stabilization still matters, but low light and an easy way to frame myself are becoming more important than pure action cam use. The DJI Action 5 Pro looks solid, especially for battery life and the DJI workflow, but the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 keeps catching my eye because of the flip screen and how it seems to handle low light. I also noticed my old camera could still offset part of the cost through a trade-in type upgrade, which makes switching a little easier to justify. For people who have used both DJI and Insta360 action cams, which one feels better for travel and low light instead of pure sports footage?

After going through too much speculation, videos on youtube, posts on reddit, forum discussions and firmware update PDFs, I finally got my hands on DJI ACTION 6. I had a limited budget of 50k, so I had too much confusion about which product to go with... And today, in my hands, i just realised how tiny the camera is !! Such a cutie 🥰... Will verify every detail on the video quality, proper settings as well as aspect ratios and cropping whatever I've witnessed on youtube. TLDR: new camera bought!

As a vlog-style creator, I chose the Osmo Action 5 Pro over the Osmo Pocket 3 because of the OA5P's ease-of-use, dual screens, water-proofing, better battery performance, *tremendously* better durability (no gimbal and can be handed over to toddlers), and because it's better for traveling in different weather conditions. While the OA5P was the better choice for me, the OP3 has two significant advantages I wish the OA5P had, and having those would make it the literally perfect camera for me: 1. Bokeh/Subject Separation 2. Low-Light Performance I was looking forward to the release of the DJI Osmo Action 6 mainly because of the variable aperture (f/2.0-4.0). I initially thought that the widest aperture would give the option to introduce bokeh when doing vlogs, but after watching test reviews from Chinese YouTubers, I found out it doesn't really do that. — This makes perfect sense though, since it's an action camera, and action cameras are made to capture everything, which is the complete opposite of bokeh. From my understanding, the only purpose of the f/2.0 Aperture and larger sensor was to shorten the focus distance, improve image quality a bit, and to gather more light for low-light scenes. Now, looking at the low-light performance of the OA6, while the image quality *does* look a bit better when doing side-by-side comparisons (removing flares, starbursts, and other elements), I personally think it doesn't look *that* much better than what my OA5P can do. Overall, the difference is completely negligible to the standard viewer's eye. I always record night footage with a cold-shoe light on, but if the "improved low-light performance" of the OA6 doesn't eliminate the need for an additional light source, then there isn't really enough of a reason to make me switch. These are my thoughts, but I'm hoping to be proven wrong. No hate. I love DJI and I believe they make amazing products. This is just an objective observation of why I currently feel the Osmo Action 6 isn't for my personal use case. I'd love to hear anybody else's thoughts too.

Hey everyone, I want to buy my first action camera, mainly for vacation footage and motorcycle riding/vlog stuff. I’m torn between the **DJI Osmo Action 6** and the **Action 5 Pro**. What appeals to me about the Action 6 is its square sensor so that way I can film in both portrait and landscape. But I’m not sure if that advantage is worth the extra cost. Does anyone here own the Action 6 (or both) and can share their experience? Would you say the 6 is worth the upgrade over the 5 Pro for the extra flexibility? Any help or advice would be much appreciated, thanks!

I will be the first to admit that I thought the pre order grip was going to be a cheap little toss in. What a solid, well thought out little piece of gear! If I had thoughts or advice for the team, it would be to release a power version of the grip that doubles as a dual battery (or single if its a space thing) holder / charger or just a battery IN the grip that also would connect magnetically to the camera door giving the user another reason to put the camera in the grip for use. It took me til the wee hours setting it up and was unable to bring it on my skydive adventure so please enjoy some hero 13 footage while I study up on how to use this new beast of a cam. I look silly forward to creating with the new Mission 1 Pro. Hope you all are out doing epic stuff and creating epic memories with your cams.

Let me preface this by saying, yes I know the head strap would work just as good as this, and a lot simpler but I can’t bring myself to use it. I’m using this set up to record my USPSA matches Camera- Go Pro Hero 13 with ultra wide lens Mount- Action Hat DIY Mount. Removed the metal plate from the foam so it’s not as bulky and I don’t need it to float. Hat- Otto 141. Old hat that I had and the patch was falling off. Removed the patch. Cut the brim so you can’t see it in the camera. Spray painted it because I think it looks cool. Optional- I added 2.5oz of counterweightj to the back strap using tire balancing weights and secured it using heal shrink. Didn’t absolutely need to do this but I’ll be running around and wanted the hat as secure as possible. It does help balance the weight to the camera up front.

In the end, it came down to the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro and the GoPro Hero 13. At the very last moment, I decided to go with the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro since most of the reviews and comments I found online seemed to favor it. However, after joining this subreddit, I’ve noticed quite a few people saying it’s actually *worse* than the GoPro - and that a lot of the hype around it comes from DJI paying influencers for positive reviews. So I’d really like to hear your **honest opinions** on the comparison between the two. For context, I’ve had the Action 5 Pro for about two days now and so far I’m happy with it, except for two things: * The case is really tight - it’s hard to get the camera out. * The magnetic mount feels a bit off-center and doesn’t align perfectly. Curious to hear your experiences and thoughts!

I've seen countless comments about the new Mission cameras and especially the Mission 1 ILS where people are assuming that the camera is pointless. The comments are usually as follows: * I can't think of any way this camera would be useful * The camera isn't portable anymore * How is it supposed to fit on my head with such a big lens? * It's going to be difficult to get a wide FOV with such a tight crop factor * No autofocus on an action cam is stupid * An action camera that's not waterproof? * Just get \_\_\_ camera instead (suggesting something like a BMPCC/FX3) * M43 native lenses won't work well with it It's been frustrating watch so many people miss the point of this camera completely. They're seeing it as a GoPro that can do less or a worse mirrorless camera, rather than the incredible powerhouse that it actually is just because it doesn't fit their specific usecase. It's literally a *tiny* camera, with one of the most adaptable mounts ever (*not proprietary btw!*), that can do 8k60/4k240/1080p960 with confirmed little-to-no overheating. Theres hardly anything else out there that can do this at the moment, especially under 10k. Most people are also missing the fact that the Mission 1 and Mission 1 Pro also exist! If you want a traditional HERO style camera, then that's the one for you! The ILS isn't a replacement for a HERO, it's a separate camera all together. GoPro usecase has also historically been B or even C camera. This is a camera meant to complement other cameras, it's not a main camera replacement (although hopefully we see GoPro venture into that space with this technology). If you had any of the opinions mentioned above, I've answered them here: * I can't think of any way this camera would be useful * Car mount * Drone mount * Literally anywhere a camera is mounted * Scientific purposes w/ slow motion that doesn't break the bank * The camera isn't portable anymore * It's definitely still portable, just not pocketable with a lens, but that's not the point. * How is it supposed to fit on my head with such a big lens? * Get a smaller lens? Get a regular mission 1? It's not meant to be a head mounted cam, that's for the other two cameras. * It's going to be difficult to get a wide FOV with such a tight crop factor * If you need GoPro-wide FOV, then the Mission 1 Pro exists for that exact reason. Even still, wide lenses do exist (Laowa 7.5mm is \~20mm on M1ILS) * You don't need to mount native m43 glass, you can adapt. * No autofocus on an action cam is stupid * Mounted cameras don't need autofocus. It's a set-and-forget camera. In fact, autofocus off is usually the norm for this usecase. * An action camera that's not waterproof? * There'll definitely be dive cases made for this camera, but that's very clearly not the intention * If you need a waterproof HERO style camera, get the Mission 1 Pro. * Just get \_\_\_ camera instead (suggesting something like a BMPCC/FX3) * I can't think of a single camera that can do 8k60/4k240/1080p960 at this size & price. * There's so much that this GoPro offers over other cameras * This isn't an A camera replacement * M43 native lenses won't work well with it * The mount is for adaptability, not for the native lens selection As usual, it'll be the loud minority that we're hearing and the people that have a usecase for this camera will be loving it. I can't wait to see the content that people will make with it. I'm just fed up of the lack of critical thinking in these comments sections.

Two things I've never liked about mounting a GoPro to my car-- The overheating and the "GoPro mounted to car look". I've been working on aerodynamic pod designs. One is slim and will mount to a base that allows angle adjustment. The other is designed for sitting flush to the roof or hood but allows adjustment on the roll axis. Both designs a 60mm cooling fans. I've tested in the height of summer in Central Texas and heat is no longer an issue! The 3D printed PLA plastic is also fine, but to be on the safe side I've switched to Polymaker HT-PLA and PETG plastics. My next steps are powerbank integration (so external power cables for the camera and fan aren't needed) and a better mount design. But it takes a lot of time to design, print, redesign, print, redesign again, etc. I'm wondering if there's a market for these that makes it worthwhile to continue, or should I just stick with the mostly functional prototypes for my own use? I have other unrelated unique products for sale on Etsy but haven't had any success at all!

Hello everyone! We (GoPro) have a new LUT for GP-LOG2 for Mission 1 series cameras. I wasn't sure when it would go live officially, and I've seen a lot of you are shooting in GP-Log2 so I wanted to share this with the community here first. While we have some pretty technical LUTs available, this one should pretty much be drag and drop - it aims to emulate the cinematic color profile in the camera. Obviously a LUT should be a starting place; it won't always get it perfect. When you shoot in GP-LOG2, the camera isn't doing as much automation under the hood to control shadows/highlights because it assumes you will be doing that part manually in post. If you're confused about shooting GP-LOG2 but still want to get the best out of the camera, I would recommend using the cinematic color profile and starting your color journey there. Cinematic is a great starting point, but only might require an increase in contrast or color shift, whereas log is a bit more involved. Excited to get this out there. I’m actually mad at this article. Saying it’s “third fiddle”. These cameras have been rated over GoPro for a few years now. By reputable sources. Wired, pc mag and toms hardware have the (older) 5 the best overall.

Tell me if I made the right choice for a beginner? I did some research and watched a lot of videos on YouTube. The DJI Action 5 Pro is the best option.

I just got back from a weekend trip where I had about 8 hours of content between my Action 5 Pro and my Mini 4 Pro. Popped the SD card out of the Action 5 and put it in the adapter that goes to my PC, ready to copy the videos to my backup drives. "ERROR! Cannot read card. Please format." \[Insert Luke Skywalker NOOOOOO gif here.\] Tried the SD card from the Mini 4 Pro. Same thing. Seriously concerned, I put the cards back in their respective devices. I turn on Action 5 and look to see if playback is working on the files. It works. HALELUJAH! I connect the camera to the PC to move the videos that way. "ERROR! Cannot read card. Please format." Umm, how am I supposed to get these files? I start looking up data recovery software that I bought years ago, then remember the oldest IT trick in the book. I reboot my PC. Insert the SD card into the reader and BAM! Everything works. \[Insert party gif\] What a relief. Just a little anecdote for folks out there, as a reminder to not panic until necessary, and to be grateful every day your tech works without issue.

As a vlog-style creator, I chose the Osmo Action 5 Pro over the Osmo Pocket 3 because of the OA5P's ease-of-use, dual screens, water-proofing, better battery performance, *tremendously* better durability (no gimbal and can be handed over to toddlers), and because it's better for traveling in different weather conditions. While the OA5P was the better choice for me, the OP3 has two significant advantages I wish the OA5P had, and having those would make it the literally perfect camera for me: 1. Bokeh/Subject Separation 2. Low-Light Performance I was looking forward to the release of the DJI Osmo Action 6 mainly because of the variable aperture (f/2.0-4.0). I initially thought that the widest aperture would give the option to introduce bokeh when doing vlogs, but after watching test reviews from Chinese YouTubers, I found out it doesn't really do that. — This makes perfect sense though, since it's an action camera, and action cameras are made to capture everything, which is the complete opposite of bokeh. From my understanding, the only purpose of the f/2.0 Aperture and larger sensor was to shorten the focus distance, improve image quality a bit, and to gather more light for low-light scenes. Now, looking at the low-light performance of the OA6, while the image quality *does* look a bit better when doing side-by-side comparisons (removing flares, starbursts, and other elements), I personally think it doesn't look *that* much better than what my OA5P can do. Overall, the difference is completely negligible to the standard viewer's eye. I always record night footage with a cold-shoe light on, but if the "improved low-light performance" of the OA6 doesn't eliminate the need for an additional light source, then there isn't really enough of a reason to make me switch. These are my thoughts, but I'm hoping to be proven wrong. No hate. I love DJI and I believe they make amazing products. This is just an objective observation of why I currently feel the Osmo Action 6 isn't for my personal use case. I'd love to hear anybody else's thoughts too.

Insta360 has one of the over promising under delivering customer support. They promise to give credit and then keep changing their promises and tries to switch it to gifts instead of returning the money. Also, if you purchase their repair warranty, it’s stated on their site once you make the deductible replacement payment, they’ll ship out your repaired device without 3-5 business days. They took over 3 weeks after spam chatting / emailing them asking repeatedly where’s my replacement? They made the excuse they couldn’t ship it to me because the didn’t have any screen protectors in stock. I went to the insta360 website and saw the screen protector so I bashed them and demanded them to send me my camera and credit me for the screen protector which they’re still not trying to credit after the promise. For new customers trying to purchase any products, I recommend do not purchase from the insta 360 official site. Go through Amazon. They will charge you a return shipping fee even if box is unopened vs amazon is free. Never had such a headache with a customer support and a repair warranty company until I dealt with Insta360. For all the money we paid, they should have to fix this to maintain customer satisfaction. Stop being cheap when we spend thousands on their products. Never shop directly with the brands, go through the platforms so they don’t ever mess around with their words and play with customers emotions.

I picked up the Insta360 GO Ultra during Black Friday as a small camera for POV shots or moments where I don’t feel like pulling out my main camera. I wasn’t expecting it to replace anything, just something light that fills the gaps when I’m out shooting. After using it for a few days, here are my early GO Ultra impressions: * The image quality feels pretty similar to what you’d get from a good smartphone. Totally fine for casual shooting, and honestly pretty fun to use. * A few people even stopped me because they were curious what this tiny camera was. * The linear photo mode is surprisingly useful. The photos don’t distort as much as I expected from a camera this wide. * For quick POV or street moments, it’s way easier than pulling out a full camera. I’ve been an Insta360 X3 user for a while and upgraded to the X5 this Black Friday too. The GO Ultra feels different in a good way. The editing workflow in the Insta360 app feels slightly improved, but the GO Ultra footage is definitely more fragmented compared to 360 clips. Still figuring out the best way to manage all the little videos and photos. Still learning the camera, but it’s been a fun addition to my kit.

Retains most details but can sometimes look over sharpened. Works well in low light for a 360 camera. 8K 50fps is a good USP but will drain the battery fairly quick. \- Didn't encounter fogging but I tend to shoot in bursts of 1-2 minutes max \- Lack of removable lenses is a drawback and despite it's light weight and small size I would be hesitant to use in for action shots because of this. \- Great having internal memory \- Software more basic than insta360's but the app is fairly decent and probably easier to learn. \- Best option for vlogging/travel/shooting 360 VR videos. **Insta360 X5** **-** Video still competes with other cameras, particularly if "adaptivetone" is turned on but can sometimes look oversaturated. Best option to use at night/ low light. \- Best ecosystem for software and accessories. Company really innovates in the 360 space. \- Removable lenses are good but the process is not as simple as it could be imo. \- If you want to get the kind of unique shots that are all over instagram/tiktok then this is still the best choice. Also a good choice for action shots. The best option for hyperlapse and "no editing" shooting **Max 2** **-** Claims to have "true" 8K as the pixels it counts are not wasted or used in overlapping. Technically true and the video looks great in daylight. Best looking colour tech out of the 3. Completely useless in low light \- Twist and replace user replaceable lenses probably the best innovation here. Very easy and makes the Max 2 the best option for action shots. \- Internal GPS and 6 microphones unique to this camera \- Software still lags behind the others. Really need Premiere Pro or Davinci Resolve with the Reframe plugin. The free desktop software is awful and the App is basic compared to the others.

I've been a Pocket 3 user for a while and overall a DJI fan. Once I started looking into 360 cameras though, it was tougher to make up my mind. I ended up buying both the Insta360 X5 and the DJI osmo 360 with the idea of living with them for a bit and eventually giving one of them away to my brother. Both were fun in the initial "honeymoon phase". I’d just shoot everything and figure it out later. But after a few weeks, once the novelty wore off, some stuff I didn’t initially consider started to matter more. Lens protection was a bigger deal than I expected. Since the osmo 360 doesn’t have replaceable lenses, that became a point of concern. I bought lens covers for it. That gave me peace of mind as far as protection, but definitely affected the image quality. This is a major oversight by DJI. Since replaceable lenses became a thing, it's a must-have on 360 cams. What pushed me toward keeping the X5 in the end was the overall experience. Shooting 360 means dealing with a lot of clips, and with the X5, reviewing, reframing, and exporting is easier and less annoying. I had assumed DJI would be stronger on software, but Insta360’s experience with 360 really shows. Desktop editing on both still isn’t great though. The Osmo 360 isn't a bad camera, but when putting them head to head, I kept reaching for the X5 more often. I appreciated being able to focus on what I was recording instead of worrying about breaking the lenses or bad image quality from lens guards or how to deal with the footage afterward. I’ve been really enjoying the photo workflow lately. I’ve seen people talk a lot about reframing video, but the photo side feels pretty underrated. Shot this cathedral with the Insta360 X5 earlier. Just pointed the camera up once and grabbed the whole dome. From that single 360 photo I exported multiple angles and aspect ratios in Insta360 Studio. I also tried Photo Animator in Insta360 Studio. Pick a preset move and it slowly pans across the image, turning the still photo into a short clip in seconds. 360 photos are great when you capture one moment and want multiple outputs later. Compared with video, it’s just quicker to snap a photo when you’re on the go. Small wishes: 1. Studio photo editing could use a few more filters like the mobile app. 2. It would also be great if we could keyframe photos in Studio.

Trying to decide between Ricoh GR iiix and Fujifilm x-t30 iii. Pocket-ability is not the most important to me. Just want an all rounder camera for everyday use and travel with as little post processing as possible. Good image quality and autofocus. Which one would you pick between the 2?

Hey all, I need a cheap action camera that I can set up to record sports matches in a hall to review tactics and strategy. Yes I know that gopro/DJI/Insta are the best cameras, but I just need something cheap that I can give to someone to setup and record about 70mins of video (also a powerbank battery backup is possible). 4K quality would be nice so I can zoom in a little bit but it doesn't have to be the best 4K quality in the world. Long recording ability without shutting down due to overheating or whatever is utmost importance. Which budget action cameras could do this around 120USD? I was thinking of the Akaso v50x but there are probably tonnes more out there so what would you reccommend?

Think about where you will mount it. If you mount to the bars you may surprise yourself how much the bars move side to side when you think it’s straight! The head tube is better but maybe chest or helmet are best? FWIW Akaso cameras are cheap and effective and you get a load of fittings thrown in. similar to GoPro for footprint and mounting hardware

Hi all, I am thinking to buy an action camera to capture some moments (short videos), combined with my metrics (power, speed, heart rate). I do only road cycling, which means I don't do any jumps, wheelies and stuff which I assume need an improved stabilisation. I am not sure how much will I use it, so I think that a quality budget cam would be the right choice. By "quality budget" I mean, according to what I read, something like Akaso or SJcam around 60 to 100 euros cost. If I like the whole capturing and editing I am not negative in later upgrade to something more "professional", so I am thinking this purchase would be something like an introduction in action cameras world. So, what do you think? Anything else to propose to my thoughts, camera brand or models etc? Thank you in advance!

I still think my Insta360 x5 is a better overall camera, but the Max 2 has three big advantages: - sound - out of the camera, for motorcycling, the sound is waaaaay better. - editing - the GoPro Quik app is simpler and faster - GoPro Cloud - infinitely better than Insta360's offering

I used mine, along with my 15 Pro Max, to film all the video I took at CES. It performed beautifully (search “Notnerd” on social media to see the results). I used the Insta360 app about 95% of the time and the built in camera the rest of the time.

DJI Osmo Action is solid if you want good stabilization. Insta360 if you're into the 360 footage thing

I travel with three sticks - regular, tripod / selfie stick combo, and an extended selfie stick. I picked up some [D-Rings](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QTWDHB8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title) and [wrist straps](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08M9ZJMM6?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1) so there is less chance of dropping the sticks from a balcony. They screw on and off easily. I have two batteries and a multi-battery charger. A six port USB charger is also in the kit with various cables and chargers. You should also look for chargers for European voltages, sorry can't help with that stuff. Get plenty of SD cards. An insta360 Quick Reader is also in the kit. Usage - I try to take HDR photos of the rooms, cruise ship cabins, cruise ships for virtual tour stuff. The selfie stick / tripod combo is nice to have at meals. Stick it in the center of the table and take a few photos. I mount the selfie stick on the tripod combo to get the camera to eye level for the HDR photos for virtual tours. The camera is controlled from my phone out of camera view. I take stills and videos with the extended stick extended over the balcony at hotels and on cruise ships. The wrist strap helps as the stick and camera get heavy. Also for drone like stuff over the edge of the ship and on upper decks. Don't forget your phone has a camera. Sometimes it is the best camera for the moment.

I know the company has people officially here on reddit reading these threads. I bought my Luna Ultra the day B&H dropped it. So far it is a HOME RUN. Highly recommend it for the image it creates. Do it... Right now. Oh, you can't? That's because professionals want to OWN their products. Now you can say that you do this to ensure that we all get the firmware installed and the camera patched, but that is largely a GARBAGE answer. Truth be told, you could release cameras with basic firmware like PROFESSIONAL camera manufacturers do. Then you could lock features behind a wall and tell them they do not get these without updating firmware. *"Hiding" LUTS in your studio? Nope. Stop that.* Now this one I probably get some pushback for. YES, the LUT is available on the website as a download, but it is VERY hard to find. I went looking for it and then went to Grok AI which then proceeded to search over TEN pages on the site before it finally found it. But from the site to the common person without time to do this, it pushes you to get their desktop software. And that software is garbage. It is a MESS. They want to get their footage, throw it into the editor they use, and just USE IT. It is the same way you cannot just import an X series cameras 360 footage into Final Cut Pro, or how you cannot get fully stereoscopic RAW files from the cameras. **So Insta360, please reconsider things if you want professionals to love you**.

I did buy a osmo pocket 3 which I had for 11 months and only used it around 5 times before the internal battery got faulty. I genuinely loved the pocket 3 it's just beautiful but I don't think DJI test their products to improve problems they just want to make money quick! So I returned it and they couldn't fix it and I got a refund. I want something small and portable so vlog for travelling, to show food, people I interact with etc. I'm down to 3 options. GoPro hero 13, inst360 ace pro 2, and insta360 go ultra. Unfortunately I have been to a few places to see the camera but they don't let you test them so I don't know what it's like other than watch a lot of unpaid/ honest reviews on all of them. Can anyone advise what do you think I should go with? I even asked chatgpt but it gave a very vague answer. I wish all these 3 were combined. Hey everyone, I saw a post about the images posted on my instagram story a day or two ago, so I thought I'd just share everything on here + my shooting experience. I'm currently at the GoPro Creator Summit in Morocco so I've had access to the new cameras while we're out here.  I've used the previous models of GoPro and DJI Osmo Action, never used Insta360.  Comparing these images to other action cams feels pointless because it really is in a league of its own. I normally shoot on a Sony A1ii, and the Mission 1 files are comparable to that. Obviously not as high quality, but the editing experience is extremely similar in terms of how the Raw files behave, and the end results look fantastic.  In terms of the photo shooting experience with the ILS model, it's a bit slow. I would compare it to the same speed as film photography. Find your composition, get your focus (manually), and take the photo. Both the Mission 1 Pro and ILS models take roughly 3 seconds to process the image in the 50MP Raw mode (thats the only mode I shot with). You can do 50MP RAW burst modes up to 30 photos in 1 second, however this takes a sec to process.  The head image quality engineer from GoPro is here, and I've been giving him all this feedback so there will likely be improvements over the next few months.  Low light performance is great compared to other action cams. I set my ISO range to 25-800 ISO and it worked in most situations on both the Mission 1 and ILS cameras.  Honestly there's not much more to it. It's a mind-blowingly impressive little camera, it takes fantastic images, the shooting process is a bit slow, but in terms of quality, its in a league of it's own in the "action cam" world. Lastly, I spent the whole trip taking photos, so I can't speak to the video side of things from experience, but from what I've seen from the other creators, it's crazy good. These images were all shot in 50MP RAW mode and then edited in Lightroom CC (just colours, contrast etc., nothing major).

So I have always loved photography and videography of any kind and what really draws me into it is cameras I love them. Now although I love cameras I dont really know that much about them I know pretty much all the basic stuff but I havent learned how to properly take photos, edit them, etc. Ect. Anyways this is my "main" camera (other than a gopro hero 10) that I use for my photography its not the highest end camera but recently the photos havent been good at all( unedited) and I was wondering before I try and put money into a cheap camera is it true that a better lens can help me get higher quality shots?

I just thought I'd make a post here as I recently used the GoPro replace camera service they offer with the subscription and I've read a few posts and comments etc. ​ So I am in the UK and I recently had an issue where if I swapped batteries on my hero 10 it would just have a front LED on and take a long time to start. It was about a minute or two but ended up being more like 90 minutes. ​ I contacted them, told them it wasn't working properly, I had updated it. That's it. I initially contacted them last Tuesday at around 8pm, they replied within an hour or so, and set up the replacement. I gave credit card details etc and by Wednesday morning about 5am they sent the sending instructions. I dropped it off at a ups locker Wednesday evening at 8 pm. It arrived in Netherlands on Monday. Withing a couple of hours they had taken payment (£106) and shipped replacement. When ups emailed me I requested it be dropped off at the locker as I wouldn't be home. It was delivered about 2pm today. So it took literally 7 days. I honestly can't expect faster service than that. The replacement came from the Netherlands btw. ​ I sent a faulty hero 10 and they gave me a hero 13 black plus one enduro battery. ​ Happy days. Good service GoPro! ​

Hey guys so I've had a Gopro hero 10 for a couple years. I used to just shoot random things while traveling, but recently I've been more into road cycling and rock climbing. My Gopro just feels too chunky to bring for these, so I'm looking for a smaller action camera rn. I've done some research already, and I'm debating between Dji's Osmo nano and Insta360's Go ultra. Nano is honestly pretty tempting. Battery life seems better which would be helpful for longer rides. And from some reviews I watched, when people doing rides through forests and open fields, the footage looked pretty good and the colors held up nicely across different lighting conditions. And for Go ultra, one thing that looks cool to me is that free frame mode. So when I'm mid-climb or on a trail I'm not really gonna stop to readjust framing, and this just helps me to crop easily when I went back checking. I also kinda like the flip screen design. Seems useful when I want to switch angles and make sure I'm getting the shot. Mostly just curious if anyone's used either or both, and how's the real experience when using it outdoors shooting, Tia!

I do a lot of mixed video-type things. Currently, I have a GoPro, and I have a tripod for it. I build videos on cars and drones, so I set it up and use it as a "studio" camera type thing. It's high quality and wide-angle, so it's great for "hands-on" type content. I really want to get into outdoors stuff, POV driving, drone video, and POV photography (outdoors and in public), I feel like the GoPro strapped to my head is just too large and draws too much attention. I also have to say that any chest mount I get for it is about the same size as a bulletproof vest, and as a result, is extremely bulky and draws attention as well. I'm looking for something that will have just as good quality and be able to do wider shots when I am working with things close up, while also being a good bit smaller/inconspicous than the GoPro so I can go out into public while recording without drawing too much attention.

Get her a Polaroid or one of those "instant cameras". At this range you won't find a "real camera" that's worth it. You will see suggestions for entry level Canon DSLRs that are 15 years old. And while these old cameras can give good results they require a lot of experience and photo editing to produce images that are on par or better than a modern phone. Also they will require multiple lenses and are heavy to carry around and have outdated menu systems. Give that camera to an amateur and he will hate it unless he is **very very** **interested** and motivated in learning photography.

Maybe consider Fuji instax or polaroid Go cameras

When I dog sit I always give people a picture. I use Lightroom but I don't have another workflow for batch editing besides that. Also I think my current laptop has just about had it so I gotta back up still what's on there. I'm trying to sort things by year now and then the client's name.

Drift ghost pro xl. Battery life is pretty good lasting 6-10 hours depending on setting. I get roughly 8 but hard to say as i charge my helmet and camera when my helmet low battery.

I do a lot of mixed video-type things. Currently, I have a GoPro, and I have a tripod for it. I build videos on cars and drones, so I set it up and use it as a "studio" camera type thing. It's high quality and wide-angle, so it's great for "hands-on" type content. I really want to get into outdoors stuff, POV driving, drone video, and POV photography (outdoors and in public), I feel like the GoPro strapped to my head is just too large and draws too much attention. I also have to say that any chest mount I get for it is about the same size as a bulletproof vest, and as a result, is extremely bulky and draws attention as well. I'm looking for something that will have just as good quality and be able to do wider shots when I am working with things close up, while also being a good bit smaller/inconspicous than the GoPro so I can go out into public while recording without drawing too much attention.

I'm incredibly disappointed in how GoPro Customer Support has gone down hill including no longer having phone support. I ordered the Mission 1 pro and it was supposed to have the 1 free year of GoPro subscription including accessory discount. After the order I went to go buy batteries with the subscription discount but it had failed to give the GoPro subscription that was supposed to be added to my account. So naturally I thought it was an error they'd easily correct and opened a support ticket since they've completely cancelled phone support. Next day I finally get a response of "Thank you for contacting us! We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and I am happy to help you on this. I have coordinated with our internal team regarding your concern about a free one-year GoPro subscription. I will provide you with an update once I receive their response." Then 3 days with no response so I had to send a follow up since the camera was set to arrive the next day and still no update. 4 days after the ticket I'm getting a response. "We are still actively coordinating with our internal team regarding your subscription concern...Rest assured, I’m closely monitoring your case to ensure this is resolved as quickly as possible" So GoPro can't even fix their own subscription issue in 4 days and have to "keep looking into it" and "coordinating with our team" I was finally going to be switching back to GoPro having had a dozen of their cameras through the years from the Hero 3 black through the hero 12, and only recent switching to DJI. But the fact their support is already now this bad before any potential bankruptcy has me at the point where I'm just going to refuse the delivery of the Mission 1 Pro today and return it. I really wanted GoPro to make a comeback, but they seem to have lost one of the few advantages they had over competitors now that their Customer Support doesn't even support customers well and is hard to get ahold of.

Best GoPro is always the latest one. Higher number = More better Now, cost effective is different. Don't go with the hero 8, they changed the form factor from hero onwards so you will have a hard time finding media mods. Hero 12 has no GPS, if that is of interest to you. But casual recording, probably not

I got bored of always taking the same photos and videos on my kayak trips… and I’m way too lazy to set up a tripod with a camera on shore every time. So I built a floating camera buoy for my action cams and my Insta360 X4 Air. To make it safe to use, the 3D-printed body is reinforced with fiberglass on the inside and filled with PU foam for buoyancy. The marine varnish makes it fully waterproof — even for days. I even designed a matching mount for transport, so the whole thing stays secure on board while paddling. Honestly, I probably could have made something that “works” with a Coke bottle, a rock, and some hot glue… but I wanted to build something I’d actually be happy with in the end 😅 It took me a few months to design and build properly… …but it was totally worth it. Now I can finally get photos and videos of myself kayaking from angles that usually need a second person or a drone. But the best part is watching the footage later on my Meta Quest 3 — it feels like I’m floating through the rivers all over again. Pretty mesmerizing :) I’ll post some videos from the buoy’s perspective here soon :) The only downside: some friends want one now too… and each one takes me about 3 weeks to build 😅

Maybe convenience matters more to me these days. I've been using a canon m50 mark 2 for about four years and filmed most of my travel vlogs with it. I still like it a lot. That said, carrying it around all day can get tiring. Anyone who's traveled with a camera and lens probably knows the feeling 😂. After a few hours, you definitely start noticing the weight. Recently I spent some time with insta360 x4 air, it's changed how often I actually record things. Walking around, riding a bike, grabbing coffee, or just exploring a new place, I can pull it out and start filming right away. I don't have to think much about framing, and it's easy to capture moments I'd probably skip if I had to carry more gear. Of course, you can't get everything. If I need to zoom in a lot, I'll still bring my m50. But for everyday travel and causal vlogging, I'd consider bringing x4 air. One thing I didn't expect is that I actually like the portrait mode for selfies. I think it does a nice job without making everything look overly processed.

I picked up the Insta360 GO Ultra during Black Friday as a small camera for POV shots or moments where I don’t feel like pulling out my main camera. I wasn’t expecting it to replace anything, just something light that fills the gaps when I’m out shooting. I also tried the magnetic pendant and for mountain biking it's not stable enough. i don’t have any issues other than the Luna Ultra getting hot. it seems to be okay when i have airflow going towards it. i had it mounted to the inside of my front windshield, hit record and it got hot. turned the front windshield A/C on and it seemed to not overheat. i think insta360 forgot that this isn’t an action camera that’s going to be seeing a lot of wind speed

Ordered my first GoPro and with new camera purchase there was option for a free year of GoPro premium yet I didn’t receive it when I got my camera. Still waiting to hear back from support but curious if anyone else has had this issue or knows if I’m beat or not

Hey everyone! I was just gifted the DJI Osmo Action 5, which I plan to use mainly for diving. I’m planning to buy the waterproof case for it, but I’d rather use a longer extension rod instead of the buoyant handle. Does anyone know if the waterproof case is compatible with the extension rod? Also, if anyone has experience with other action cameras for diving, I’m open to recommendations. My research so far suggests DJI is great underwater, but I could still switch to a GoPro or Insta360 if there’s a better option. For context, I’m currently using a GoPro Hero 3 from around 2017, so I’m definitely excited for a dive camera upgrade 😅
