RatingAdda respects your privacy. This page explains what data we collect, why, and what we do with it.
What we collect
Information you provide
We do not require you to create an account to read content on RatingAdda. If you contact us by email, we will receive whatever information you include in your message.
If you sign up for the newsletter or submit the “Request a category” form, we store the email address you provide along with the timestamp and (for category requests) the category name and any optional notes. Newsletter emails are retained until you ask us to delete them; category-request entries are retained for as long as the request is in our backlog plus a short follow-up window after we publish (or decline) the category. Email hello@ratingadda.com at any time to be removed.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers automatically log basic technical information when you visit:
- IP address and approximate location (country / region)
- Browser type and version, device type, operating system
- The pages you view and the time of your visit
- The referring URL, if any
This information is used to operate the site, monitor performance, detect abuse, and understand which categories visitors find useful. We retain server logs for a limited period for security and operational purposes.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies, plus browser localStorage to remember your filter preferences (selected sentiment, subreddit, search term) within a category page. The localStorage data never leaves your browser. The cookies we set are limited to a session-signing cookie (so forms work) and the analytics cookie described below.
Third-party services
- Reddit - we read public discussions on Reddit to power our rankings. We only access public content. We do not transmit any information about you to Reddit.
- Amazon, Flipkart, and other retailers - when you click a product link, you leave RatingAdda and visit a third-party retailer, which has its own privacy policy. See the linksredirect note below for how that hop works.
-
Google Analytics 4 - we use Google Analytics to understand
aggregate site usage: which pages are visited, which referrers send traffic, and
rough device/browser/country breakdowns. Google sets one or more cookies (typically
_gaand_ga_*) in your browser, receives your IP address (which we configure to be anonymised before storage), and processes the data per its Privacy Policy. We do not use Analytics for advertising, remarketing, or cross-site tracking. You can opt out site-wide by installing Google’s Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, by enabling “Do Not Track” in browsers that block GA, or by using any standard ad-blocker. -
Cuelinks (linksredirect.com) - this applies ONLY to non-Amazon
retailer links. A “View on Amazon” link goes directly to amazon.in with no
third-party hop. For a “View on Flipkart” or other retailer link, we route
the click through
linksredirect.comso affiliate attribution is applied correctly. This adds a brief intermediate redirect during which its operator, Cuelinks (Paritycube Pvt. Ltd.), receives the click metadata per their own privacy policy. The destination retailer URL is unchanged; you end up at the same store page either way. See our Affiliate Disclosure for context. - Google Fonts - the site loads the Inter and Fraunces typefaces from Google Fonts. Google may log the request per their privacy policy.
- Google reCAPTCHA - the newsletter sign-up form and the “Request a category” form are protected by Google’s invisible reCAPTCHA v3, which scores each submission for bot-likelihood. Google receives the page URL, your IP address, and some browser-environment data per their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. The script is loaded only on pages with the relevant forms.
- Cloudflare - the site is served behind Cloudflare for caching and DDoS protection. Cloudflare may briefly log request metadata (IP, user agent) per its own policies.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your data with advertisers.
- We do not run third-party tracking pixels or behavioral ad networks.
Children
RatingAdda is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, request correction or deletion, or object to certain types of processing. Visitors in India have these rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act); visitors in the EU/UK have analogous rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR. To exercise these rights, contact hello@ratingadda.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of RatingAdda after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
