    insta360 “I built a buoy for my Insta 360”
I got bored of always taking the same photos and videos on my kayak trips… and I’m way too lazy to set up a tripod with a camera on shore every time. So I built a floating camera buoy for my action cams and my Insta360 X4 Air. To make it safe to use, the 3D-printed body is reinforced with fiberglass on the inside and filled with PU foam for buoyancy. The marine varnish makes it fully waterproof — even for days. I even designed a matching mount for transport, so the whole thing stays secure on board while paddling. Honestly, I probably could have made something that “works” with a Coke bottle, a rock, and some hot glue… but I wanted to build something I’d actually be happy with in the end 😅 It took me a few months to design and build properly… …but it was totally worth it. Now I can finally get photos and videos of myself kayaking from angles that usually need a second person or a drone. But the best part is watching the footage later on my Meta Quest 3 — it feels like I’m floating through the rivers all over again. Pretty mesmerizing :) I’ll post some videos from the buoy’s perspective here soon :) The only downside: some friends want one now too… and each one takes me about 3 weeks to build 😅

insta360 “My thoughts after trying insta360 x4 air”
Maybe convenience matters more to me these days. I've been using a canon m50 mark 2 for about four years and filmed most of my travel vlogs with it. I still like it a lot. That said, carrying it around all day can get tiring. Anyone who's traveled with a camera and lens probably knows the feeling 😂. After a few hours, you definitely start noticing the weight. Recently I spent some time with insta360 x4 air, it's changed how often I actually record things. Walking around, riding a bike, grabbing coffee, or just exploring a new place, I can pull it out and start filming right away. I don't have to think much about framing, and it's easy to capture moments I'd probably skip if I had to carry more gear. Of course, you can't get everything. If I need to zoom in a lot, I'll still bring my m50. But for everyday travel and causal vlogging, I'd consider bringing x4 air. One thing I didn't expect is that I actually like the portrait mode for selfies. I think it does a nice job without making everything look overly processed.

insta360 “Which is a better deal? X5 vs X4 Air”
Hey Insta360 fam👋 I'm trying to pick between two options: X5 starter kit with 256gb sdcard for $469 or X4 Air starter kit with 256gb sdcard for $359? It's a tough choice because they both seem like great value for the money. The X5 is definitely has an edge with that pure video mode for night time videos or is the X4 Air a good value at its lower price point? I've been looking at all the specs, and honestly, I'm still torn. Is it worth paying $110 more for X5? Any tips or insights on which one to go for?

    insta360 “Insta360 X4 buyer’s remorse — worth keeping if it’s only for a couple big trips a year?”
I recently bought an Insta360 X4 with some accessories and I’m having a bit of buyer’s remorse. I can already make relatively videos with my phone, and editing isn’t an issue for me. I don’t run a social media account or create content publicly — this would mostly be for personal memories. Realistically, I’d probably only use the X4 for 1–2 big trips per year (for example, an upcoming Costa Rica trip). I do cycle, hike, etc., but I’m not filming regularly or trying to document everything. For those who own a 360/action camera do you actually feel it’s worth owning if it’s only used a few times a year? Or did you find yourself going back to your phone most of the time? Trying to decide if this is a “cool but unnecessary” purchase or something I’ll be glad I kept long-term. Curious to hear honest experiences — especially from people who aren’t content creators.

insta360 “Recommend set up to use Insta360 videos for long solo rides?”
Hi, I am a Insta360 X4 user who travels in this vehicle for long rides on weekends. This vehicle doesn’t bars or poles like Bikes have. What is your recommended and safe set up to use for extended stick set up (that gives the view from behind the vehicle) as well POV views? Any thoughts or ideas would really be helpful
