HERO 10 Black

Hey everyone, I saw a post about the images posted on my instagram story a day or two ago, so I thought I'd just share everything on here + my shooting experience. I'm currently at the GoPro Creator Summit in Morocco so I've had access to the new cameras while we're out here.  I've used the previous models of GoPro and DJI Osmo Action, never used Insta360.  Comparing these images to other action cams feels pointless because it really is in a league of its own. I normally shoot on a Sony A1ii, and the Mission 1 files are comparable to that. Obviously not as high quality, but the editing experience is extremely similar in terms of how the Raw files behave, and the end results look fantastic.  In terms of the photo shooting experience with the ILS model, it's a bit slow. I would compare it to the same speed as film photography. Find your composition, get your focus (manually), and take the photo. Both the Mission 1 Pro and ILS models take roughly 3 seconds to process the image in the 50MP Raw mode (thats the only mode I shot with). You can do 50MP RAW burst modes up to 30 photos in 1 second, however this takes a sec to process.  The head image quality engineer from GoPro is here, and I've been giving him all this feedback so there will likely be improvements over the next few months.  Low light performance is great compared to other action cams. I set my ISO range to 25-800 ISO and it worked in most situations on both the Mission 1 and ILS cameras.  Honestly there's not much more to it. It's a mind-blowingly impressive little camera, it takes fantastic images, the shooting process is a bit slow, but in terms of quality, its in a league of it's own in the "action cam" world. Lastly, I spent the whole trip taking photos, so I can't speak to the video side of things from experience, but from what I've seen from the other creators, it's crazy good. These images were all shot in 50MP RAW mode and then edited in Lightroom CC (just colours, contrast etc., nothing major).

So I have always loved photography and videography of any kind and what really draws me into it is cameras I love them. Now although I love cameras I dont really know that much about them I know pretty much all the basic stuff but I havent learned how to properly take photos, edit them, etc. Ect. Anyways this is my "main" camera (other than a gopro hero 10) that I use for my photography its not the highest end camera but recently the photos havent been good at all( unedited) and I was wondering before I try and put money into a cheap camera is it true that a better lens can help me get higher quality shots?

The GoPros since 2021 have used the GP2 processor, which include the Hero10, 11, 12, 13, and the Max 2. It's got 4 cores, 800 MHz (boosts to 1 GHz), 4 GB of RAM, and more importantly, it's a 12nm+ die. That's pretty large for this type of electronics in this day and age, and is probably the reason why there's no Hero 14 (the GP2 is maxed out) and we have overheating in room temperatures with no airflow (especially the Max 2, while impressive as a camera does have an overheating issue in no-airflow scenarios at room temps). Compared to the DJI Osmo Action 5, with a much smaller 4nm chip, more cores, and uses a lot less power and throws off a lot less heat for twice the performance (more cores, RAM). That would account for why it does about twice as well at battery life and heat. Hopefully GoPro will get a successor to the GP2 soon.

Buying new battery would mean using my GoPro 10 for another year as this was the only battery I had. Now it’s puffed. So should I sell the camera and go for DJI/else or stick to GoPro. Also, the battery still works just stiffer in camera so should I keep using it or discard? Not a heavy user. Update: I mailed them and since they can't send a replacement battery at my place so they offered an option to choose from The Handler and Chesty mounts. I chose the Handler and they have shipped it. Guess I'll sell it and get a new battery :P

Hi. I just thought I'd make a post here as I recently used the GoPro replace camera service they offer with the subscription and I've read a few posts and comments etc. ​ So I am in the UK and I recently had an issue where if I swapped batteries on my hero 10 it would just have a front LED on and take a long time to start. It was about a minute or two but ended up being more like 90 minutes. ​ I contacted them, told them it wasn't working properly, I had updated it. That's it. I initially contacted them last Tuesday at around 8pm, they replied within an hour or so, and set up the replacement. I gave credit card details etc and by Wednesday morning about 5am they sent the sending instructions. I dropped it off at a ups locker Wednesday evening at 8 pm. It arrived in Netherlands on Monday. Withing a couple of hours they had taken payment (£106) and shipped replacement. When ups emailed me I requested it be dropped off at the locker as I wouldn't be home. It was delivered about 2pm today. So it took literally 7 days. I honestly can't expect faster service than that. The replacement came from the Netherlands btw. ​ I sent a faulty hero 10 and they gave me a hero 13 black plus one enduro battery. ​ Happy days. Good service GoPro! ​
