AC - Mitsubishi Heavy - expensive but will last a life time. Otherwise Carrier, I General or Hitachi are top tier. I have all 3 and still running strong for more than a decade. Washing Machine - Top Load LG going on for more than 8 yrs no issues Fridge - LG more than 15 years. No issues Mixer - Sujata - buy it and forget about it. The jars I have change couple of times but the mixer is more than 20 yrs I think. Microwave- Samsung. Going strong for more than a decade TV - Samsung - again 8 yr old LED Vacuum - Eureka Forbes - more than a decade old RO - Eureka Forbes - 8 Yrs old

Not necessarily. But you have to be extremely deliberate with your selections. Go with brands known for reliability. In electronics I buy brands like Sony or Panasonic. Every Sony or Panasonic television that I have ever bought is still operating perfectly 10+ years later. I gave away one of the older flat screen Sony televisions to a friend who is still using it. For major appliances, buy brands for reliability, but also buy the simplest design possible. The more complex the design and features, the more likely that something will go wrong. I avoid digital displays and digital interfaces like the plague. Plain buttons and dials are the way to go. My fridge is a two-decade-old Subzero that I found on Craigslist at 10 years old. The dryer is an old Maytag. I had to replace the washer two years ago and bought the simplest commercial-grade Speed Queen I could find. I expect that to go 20 years. The vacuum is a 20-year-old Kirby built like a tank. Simple designs are best. And a lot of the “energy efficient” features built in add complexity that leads to failures. I buy quality and simplicity (the latter lowers the price), and the appliances last a long time.

LG is a bit better than Samsung but given my experience with both brands and how the company I work for (a major appliance reseller in my country) has decided to cut ties with Samsung and LG due to high failure and return rates… …I’ve since avoided them at all costs. Peace of mind is not an easy experience to achieve when it comes to consumer electronics but I’d make do with the best I can afford— which is Panasonic.
