I finally coerced my grandma into getting her a dishwasher so needless to say I want to get her something from EU. Are Electrolux still a good choice or did they fall off over the years? What European made/owned home appliance brands would you recommend?

We’re finding the dryer is consistently not drying on the automode and we are constantly having to run for a flat 90 minutes (wastes electricity and time). Also my wife is annoyed to always have to lean over (dryer only) and has already had surgery on back. FYI had the dryer venting tubing replaced last year when we bought the house because it was not up to code. My understanding is that any washer / dryer we buy today will save on utility bills. Who knows how much. Would you recommend just buying a new dryer? Or buying a washing machine while we’re at it to hopefully save some money on delivery/installation? (Laundry is downstairs in utility and we don’t have immediate plans to move upstairs to second floor…would probably be major construction…all this to say is we have decent space now). We’d probably get the lg or Electrolux in the below Wirecutter article with pedestal, and if we’re doing washer probably the mini washer underneath unless people say they’re crap). Would you just keep the washer hanging around in basement and hook back up in case a new washer starts to crap out? I know people say “they don’t build them like they used to” and just wait till they die, but the dryer is kind of annoying. neutrallaundry “I NEED A WASHING MACHINE THAT ISNT SHIT”I'm really confused. I have an old-ass Electrolux that works just fine. Why are you adding water to the cycle? It sounds like you're using too much detergent...maybe try doing an extra rinse cycle?

In our new space, we got a very similar model from IKEA (rebranded Electrolux), and it has been faultless for the past 3 years.

neutrallaundry “I NEED A WASHING MACHINE THAT ISNT SHIT”Yep, the Electrolux is one of the highest rated front load washing machines. They don't use much water. It is a feature not a bug. I can pretty much guarantee the Electrolux front loader is going to clean better than 95% of all top loaders on the market! BTW: my previous machine was the Electrolux. It cleans well. But, it does appear like there's very, very little water in it. I have the GE profile now. When I press the "more water" button it does appear to have more water in it than the Electrolux ever did. But, it doesn't clean any better.
