Fully Automatic Front Load Washing Machine

Had a Miele dishwasher that crapped out after about 7 years. Had a whirlpool that broke after less then five. Last year I bought another Miele. The Miele dishwashers have a higher quality feel compared to any other. The trays slide in and out smoothly. AEG, Zanussi and Electrolux are all part of the same group. My AEG washing machine has been going for over 15 years and is holding strong. Rest of my kitchen is all AEG and 11 years old.

There are a lot of questions about laundering synthetic fur so I thought I would share my most recent experience. I bought a dry clean-only polyester hat secondhand ([this one](https://www.helenmoore.com/collections/hats-and-huffs/products/faux-fur-pillbox-hat-1?variant=56464765223296)). It is quite a realistic fabric, with a fleecy underlayer and a longer 'hair' layer. It was in as-new condition except that the 'sheared fur' lining was stained with orangey make up in a couple of places. I have laundered synthetic fur in the past with mixed results, so I knew I had to be extra cautious with this. Dry cleaning would have cost more than the hat itself, so I decided to chance washing. My first step was to turn the hat inside out and sponge plenty of liquid detergent (Miele UltraColor) into the stains. After leaving it for 30 mins or so, I machine washed at 30C on a wool cycle (so that agitation would be minimal), leaving the hat inside out. I turned it right side out to air dry. As you can see from the above photo, the result is good but not perfect. The stains have gone, but the fleecy layer has clumped a little, like a pet in need of grooming. I have seen worse clumping than this in some of my earlier experiments, so I think that being able to turn the hat inside out saved it from worse damage. (The fur is not as uneven as it looks, it's just that the hat is sagging with only my hand in it). However I don't think the clumping is that obvious, so the hat is now completely wearable. Success!

Loving our Miele washer / dryer. It’s plenty big enough for a family of two. An unexpected bonus is that our clothes get way cleaner than they used to. We’re only two years in with them but no reliability concerns yet. They seem rather solid. Heat pump dryer is really cool. Dries well and doesn’t require a vent. You save electricity both because the dryer is more efficient but also because the dryer isn’t pulling outside air into the house.

Before redyeing, consider a high-dose cellulase rehab. Miele Cotton Repair capsules are the easiest. You run a long hot (but not extra-hot/sanitize) load and it washes off the fuzz. This can substantially improve darkness perception on cottons.

Is this a normal amount of shaking in a Miele WXF660WCS Washing Machine? It was professionally installed yesterday. Thanks to all for the advice.
