Up and down? Because fiber is generally (though not always) symmetrical. You're paying for the same up and down. Cable connections are generally asymmetrical, something like 1Gbps down and 30-50Mbps up (which is what you showed us). If you're paying for a 1Gbps/1Gbps connection, you need to ignore the bufferbloat issue and solve for the fact that you're not getting what you're paying for. If you're paying for something like 1000/30, then the solution to your bufferbloat issue (which is a really stupid name, by the way, and doesn't actually explain what is going on) is to setup QOS on your router (which the Zyxel supports, though I don't know how advanced it is). You'll set limits that are slightly below what the circuit can actually do (eg. if you can regularly get 35Mbps up on a speed test, you'd shape to something like 30-32), and make sure that traffic that matters is prioritized over stuff that isn't (at home, that's generally audio/video, then gaming, then everything else). If possible, you'll also setup guarantees for priority traffic (eg. Teams can always have 5/5) to ensure that even if the link is saturated, the other traffic will be buffered and the high priority will pass immediately. Your problem almost certainly isn't your WiFi though, it's that you don't have the upstream bandwidth necessary to support your use, and you haven't configured QoS to make sure the traffic that matters is being prioritized. The only way to avoid needing QOS is to get more bandwidth than you can actually use. Now, I know what you're thinking, "hey, I'm not actually uploading, my connection shouldn't be saturated" and you're wrong. If you're using 1Gbps down, you're going to burn like 40Mbps up just on ACKs.

ZyXEL NWA50AX is also an option. Non-pro only has 1gbit Ethernet, Pro has 2.5gbit. The Pro uses mt7981, similar to OpenWrt One, so it performs pretty well with roaming and lots of clients. Non-pro is mt7621 MIPS+mt7915 DBDC, so slightly older hardware but a very stable platform.

I am getting bufferbloat, requests timed out intermittently on continuous ping tests when downloading games on steam, and packet loss in game when playing games on steam. I am on ethernet, normally receiving 930-ish up/down (fiber) and have a new-ish ethernet cable to my pc (6 months old). My router is the Zyxel EX7710-B0 and I've tried checking its WebGUI for QOS/SQM, but the GUI is very barebones and I'm not sure if I'll be able to do anything router settings wise. I tried to download the compatible app on IOS to manage the router (MPro Mesh), but it's A) 1.5/5 stars on the App Store, and B) that's because the wireless connection to the router from the phone that is supposed to work to connect to the router does not work i.e. the app won't detect and facilitate the connection. Essentially, any settings that I may want to try checking to see if they exist on the app are null and void because the app sucks unfortunately. I ask two things. 1) Does anyone have similar experiences with Zyxel and this router in particular? 2) Anyone able to help please?

Unifi, ZyXEL Nebula, TP Link Omada. Put your router into bridged or IP passthrough mode. Don't double NAT. And don't out your network equipment in your attic. That is in an unconditioned space and attics get extremely hot.

No, I don’t know if I should make it public; the Git is still private and in a very early stage of development. However, Cisco Unify, Ubiquity, and Zyxel already work. But I also don’t have every switch to test it on, so it’s very hard for me to continue developing it, but it’s supposed to be open source anyway.
