neutralhomenetworking “Google nest mesh or something else?”First picture is what I currently have. Google WiFi gen 1. It’s been great! I love it! But I feel it’s time for an upgrade. We recently got fiber optic internet in our area and so I want to upgrade to utilize that best as possible. Second picture is what I was planning to get. The newer nest pro. Just because I have loved the Google WiFi system so much and I have Google nests around the house so I like that it all is within that ecosystem. And I’ve read good things about the nest pro system other than it’s expensive compared to others which I see that. It’s currently on sale right now. The 2 pack is $200 from $300 which is wild to me. Another concern I have is the best pro system is 3 years old at this point. Is it still ok? I want something that’s really good, somewhat future proof for a while, and reliable. Currently I live in an apartment. It’s about 1000sq ft. However I don’t care for over kill because at some point I plan to have a bigger house and will want to use my WiFi system in that. All the other pictures I have included are from my local Walmart and what they have, just in case anything is worth checking out. I was reading an article from CNET and it said the TP link deco W7200 was the best mesh system? But honestly between Google (nest), TP link, Eero, Orbi, etc. I can’t decide. What’s the best WiFi mesh system you guys recommend?

I'm tracking after the Fios router I can plug into the first Google AP and then to a switch (planning on using Netgear Smart switch) and then to all the other devices. Does anyone see any issues with this plan? Thank you!

There's an ethernet jack on my wall, where I connect my router (Google Nest) to get wifi. At the same time, I have another ethernet cable that connects my router to my desktop computer for wired internet. My download/upload speed (on wired) based on both Google and the Google Home app is 100/90 mbps. **Problem** I want wired internet to my work laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad + docking station), but my Google Nest only has two ethernet ports. I don't want to have to switch the ethernet cable between my work laptop and desktop computer every time. Is an ethernet switch right for me? My local target has the 8-port TP-Link in-stock. I'm concerned about slower speeds, compared to getting a router with the number of ethernet ports I need.

neutralhomenetworking “Need New Home Setup to maximize Fiber”We have 1gb fiber right now but I just upgraded to the 2gb and saved myself $10 a month, I know we don't need that much but it was cheaper so I did it. We currently have a Nokia ONT XS-010X-Q provided by our internet company and then 3 Google Wifi access points, they're at least 5 years old now so I know that's not helping. Our home is 3400 sq feet, router/first access point is in the basement, 2nd is in middle of main floor and 3rd is above it on 2nd level in the middle. Our internet is fine but by no means fast. I work from home and am constantly on video calls, connecting to large SQL data tables and downloading large files. If my kids are home watching TV or online I have to prioritize my internet access on the google internet app so I don't struggle. I just bought a MOCA adapter since we have COAX in the house to connect my work computer so it's not on wifi, I'm hoping that will help. I think we need a new router and access point system, looking for something easy to use, with good security and strong internet. I know the Unifi Cloud systems are recommended a lot but there's a ton of options and I'm struggling to make sense of it.
