Velop AX5300 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6 Router

The landlord may not be able to simply move the router to another unit as it would involve moving the Internet connection. However it sounds like he has a terrible router. I haven't had to reset my Linksys mesh system for 2 years. Even if I have to reset it, I would be able to do it from the hallway, without having to enter the unit.

I have 3 of the MA2500C models. One connected to the ISP router via cat6. Coax runs from that spot in the basement up to two coax outlets upstairs, one in a bedroom and one above the garage. Not sure how the splitting runs within the home, as this is coax was installed many years ago before I lived here. The other two moca’s are attached to those coax outlets upstairs, which then directly connect to Linksys Velop WiFi via Ethernet port. Worked like a champ until I switched ISPs.

It’s not your service — it’s your mesh. The Linksys MX2000 physically can’t go over 400–600 Mbps, and in the real world they drop to 20 Mbps. The fix is simple: replace the mesh with a couple of hardwired access points.

So you're saying that the ISP provided router is only showing 500Mbits or is that 500MegaBYTES? 500Mbps = 59.6MB per second That Linksys router will max out on 1Gbps and most likely "choke down" while running a speed test. The ISP supplied router should be showing about 2000Mbps/ 2000Mbps. Sometimes an ISP will not "pad" certain speed profiles to the ONT. And when you test the speeds, you will get speeds less than the 2Gbps "max bandwidth". TCP/IP does have a percentage of overhead. usually about 3% or more. So getting an 1800Mbps range may not be out of the question. You are not even close to your 2Gbps. Just call tech support and ask them to come out to validate your ONT and their router that it is seeing the Gbps. Generally, if you are paying for 2Gbps, there will be 2Gbps at your terminal. Its not like cable or other services over copper. Issues can happen. Someone may have messed up and built your speed profile at only 500Mbps versus 2000Mbps. You could have a bad splice, fiber drop, some other Comms company could have been in the area or storms. And if the drop was not clamped properly or tight enough. Your hardware may have a laser level that is going out of range. If that is happening, your ISP should be able to see that as soon as they look at your hardware from their side. Give your ISP tech support a call. Tell em you are having slow speeds since you had your 2Gbps service installed. And have them verify what speed the ONT is built at. Then ask for a tech visit to validate the hardware. (they should be aable to remote back to their router and run a speed test). And lastly, if you are going to run 2Gbps get a 2.5Gbps capable router/ mesh system as a minimum. Here are some suggestions.
