My internet is spectrum 1gig and i live in a 1200sqft 1 floor apt. Want to get a new router under $200 and have circled on these 2. The ASUS is only dual band but seems to get excellent reviews. The Flint 3 seems to be the rage here. I’m probably going to use stock firmware unless there’s a good YouTube walkthrough on custom firmware. Also before people recommend UNIFI it’s just too expensive right now for either CGU+AP or Dream router 7, trying to stay under $200 Ok so what say you Reddit?

neutralopenwrt “Decent sub-$100 openwrt-compatible router???”Cudy WR 3000S. I just got one myself to replace my Asus RT-AX55. I think anything with a filogic chip is good, I could be wrong but so far, it handle PPPoE and WLAN just fine.

You can visit the site and look at the different plan, you can op for a more expensive plan per month and get a free ASUS router from them.

neutralwifi “Recommendations for a router that can handle many simultaneous devices”Wifi is not designed for multiple devices to be constantly transferring downloading data at the same time. Its best for intermittant or bursty transfers. We call it collision collapse. Wifi 7 fixes this with some new TDMA-like features but its going to take a while for all devices connected to an AP to be capable of the wifi 7 protocol so it doesnt have to run in CSMA legacy mode. Its an airtime problem, not a bandwidth problem. In simple terms, the easiest way to solve this would be two or three access points, such as unifi or grandstream, each hard wired back to the router, set to 20mhz channel widths and then you balance the load across the access points so as to reduce the chance of packet collisions and the subsequent collapse in throughput capability. By having multiple access points on different radio channels, you are doubling the avaliable airtime.
