RK R87 PRO Mechanical Keyboard

**Update:** My RK84 finally started acting up in wired mode, so I ended up looking around and just grabbed a replacement from the [**Walmart gaming keyboards**](https://rdout.click/gaming-keyboard) section and it’s been solid so far. Ended up just sticking with a simple mechanical board instead of waiting around for all the hall effect or TMR stuff. For my use case (gaming + typing), it honestly feels the same in real use and way more stable than my old setup. small disclosure I may receive a small benefit if purchases are made through the link. I currently have a a Royal Kludge RK84 with some basic mods (XDA keycaps, Akko Rosewood switches) and I noticed it's starting to have problems in wired mode where inputs get delayed or stick, so maybe it's grounded..? It still works on 2.4GHz and Bluetooth, and the battery life is still surprisingly good it stayed at 100% for about 3-4 days and it's still on 90% right now going almost one week already without charging it again from it's last charge so I think it's already on last days so I'm thinking its time to start planning it's replacement this year. I also know about brands like Akko, Aula, Ajazz, and Redragon, but I'm still trying to figure out if I prefer linear or tactile switches. There's just so much to learn just on keebs alone. What kind of keyboard do you think will be the best all around choice for gaming and typing in a couple years? Are optical switches going to finally take over, or is the classic mechanical switch still going to be the way to go? Also, are there any big keyboard innovations or new features rumored for 2026 that I should wait for? I'm trying to avoid buying something right before a major tech jump happens. Looking for something durable that I can maybe mod a little down the line. Any suggestions or things I should keep an eye on are appreciated.

Wooting because it's Hall Effect switches Although, Corsair has put out more modern nice keyboards lately

Royal Kludge? No one?... I can't see exactly what you are looking for, the hall effect (Wooting, Corsair), the connectivity (Keychron, LG) pricing? My RK67 is "cheap", 3 modes (cable/BT/2.4Ghz), hot swappable switches, and a USB hub (2 extra USB A port, lifesaver if you are on laptop).. I see they have a "new" version with hall effect but only wired, I'm not sure it is standard although Wooting is wired too so...

Yo get a royal kludge keyboard i have the s98 but all the models are good and the customer support is top notch I had a minor problem and they just sent me a new keyboard

I did my research and bought the RK R78 QMK/VIA because I think will fit me best . I was also looking at the Keychron C3 Pro QMK but I landed on the RK because I liked its sound better.
