You mean lga 1700 not 1200 but yes, it is a good platform. I had to build during the covid shortages(old computer died) and ended up with lga 1700 ddr 4 instead of am4(which is what I wanted but they had none in stock). As of June of this last year, I have a 12700k, 64GB DDR4, 4.5 tb ssd storage(mostly nvme), and a rtx 5070ti. DDR4 is also sadly affected by the price hikes. The exact kit I bought of Corsair Vengeance 64GB 3200 cl 16 for $90 back in January 2025, was over $300 when I checked it back in December. It's also not available anymore. If you are willing to buy used RAM though, then going with a DDR4 platform could be the way to go. Won't help the cost of your GPU but nothing will help that. Also, pre-built isn't a bad idea yet. It will be once they go through stock they already had though.

Hello, Does anyone have any recommendations for simple, not full screen/huge window and not ugly\*\* temperature monitoring software to have on second monitor? Something that just displays GPU and CPU temps+usage in a clear at a glance way. I've done some searching and not found anything that seems to be what I'm after. I don't need an overlay, which is what all the MSI afterburner stuff seems to be. AIDA64 looks close but isnt free. Rainmeter is too much of a big change to my setup for what I feel like is a simple thing. I'd like to avoid things like Riva tuner where you need 2+ programs running all the time to make it go. For all the issues I had with it I actually found the Corsair iCue display pretty good in layout and design.[ It was just a readout of whatever you wanted with a graph. What does this community recommend? I feel like this is the sort of thing the Windows "widgets" would have served well. Let me know what you use and why you like it! \*\*I have used HW Monitor and its very good and detailed but even when you hide the options its very small font on a grey square window. It's just not a great solution for having open all the time. I don't need flashy Gamer cringe, but just something I can glance at and read quickly.

I'm similar to you in terms of work. Similar system. I ended up going with a Corsair Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240. Two years and zero burn-in. BUT... I will say, if you plan on never moving elements or windows around, then it sounds like you'd be better served with one main gaming monitor and several smaller monitors for the fixed items.
