Nitro VG240Y

Blacks are truly pitch black. There is some blooming around light sources, but with HDR enabled it blends naturally into the overall image. (Because of compression, the blacks may look washed out in this photo, but on my screen they’re pure pitch black, as if the monitor is turned off.) This is from the Acer Nitro 1440p Mini-LED XV275U P3. I know the AOC Mini-LED models are even better. In my country, the cheapest OLED monitor costs more than twice as much as this Mini-LED, so I didn’t expect much when buying it, but I was genuinely impressed compared to the IPS LCD I had before. I absolutely recommend it to anyone who enjoys HDR content and either can’t afford OLED or simply doesn’t want one.

This was my first time building a PC, and from unboxing parts to the first successful POST, it was stressful in the best way possible 😅 ⸻ 🔧 Specs + Exact Prices (Item prices are BEFORE GST — 18% IGST added at final billing, as per invoices) Core PC – bought from Vedant Computers • CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D – ₹31,864 • GPU: MSI RTX 5080 Shadow 3X OC (16GB) – ₹1,02,653 • Motherboard: MSI Mortar WiFi – ₹18,390 • CPU Cooler: MSI MAG CoreLiquid A13 240mm AIO – ₹4,568 • PSU: MSI MAG A850GL PCIe 5 – ₹7,712 • Extra fans: Arctic P12 ARGB (3-pack) – ₹3,008 \*GST (18% IGST) added at final invoice stage, not per item. ⸻ Other parts (not from Vedant) • RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6400 MHz – ₹13,277 (Dubai) • SSD: NVMe SSD – ₹11,804 (Dubai) (came with its own heatsink case — removed it, temps are still perfectly fine) • Case: NZXT H3 Flow – ₹5,000 (Amazon) • Monitor: Acer Nitro XV275K P5 (27”, 4K Mini-LED, 160Hz) – ₹43,000 (Flipkart) ⸻ Final Cost • PC (after GST): \~₹2.10–2.15 lakhs • PC + monitor: \~₹2.55–2.6 lakhs (Exact totals match invoice screenshots — GST calculated at the end) ⸻ Vedant Computers experience (for Indian buyers) Most of my components came from Vedant Computers, based on recommendations from other Redditors here — and I’m glad I listened. • Everything arrived properly packed • Fast delivery • Significantly cheaper than Amazon for core components • Clear invoices with GST calculated properly at the end If you’re building a PC in India, definitely compare prices with Vedant before ordering elsewhere. ⸻ Performance & build thoughts • RTX 5080 absolutely dominates at 4K and VR • NZXT H3 Flow is my love at first sight, its perfect its not too bulky or big yet made for matx motherboards ( i first thought of building a small form factor pc but this is the perfect blend for more affordable parts and smaller pc ; its compact, clean, and airflow is better than expected • First-boot anxiety is real… but when it works, it feels incredible Building it myself made me appreciate the system way more than any prebuilt ever could. ⸻ Monitor & HDR thoughts Out of the box, HDR looked washed out, which was worrying. After tweaking: • NVIDIA Control Panel • Windows HDR calibration …the difference was massive. It’s not OLED, but for a Mini-LED LCD, contrast and brightness are far superior to standard LCD panels, and HDR finally makes sense. Overall — zero regrets. This build has already ruined console gaming for me 😄 Happy to answer questions about parts, prices, GST, Vedant experience, or settings. TL;DR First PC build ever. RTX 5080 + Ryzen 7 7800X3D + 4K Mini-LED monitor. PC cost \~₹2.1–2.15L after GST, \~₹2.55–2.6L including monitor. Most parts bought from Vedant Computers (cheaper than Amazon, fast delivery, great packing). HDR looked bad initially, tuning fixed it. Building a PC myself was insanely satisfying.

4k or a 1440p The only 4k monitor with good refresh rate in my budget is the acer nitro xv272k (@30k)

I honestly don't think it's as big of a difference as everyone else makes it out to be. If you have a ton of money, just buy one. If you have a good chunk of money, I'd evaluate what kind of content you like or work you do. If you need really good color accuracy or watch a ton of high-contrast media, then a decent OLED is worth buying. If you play single player games that are good when capped at 60 FPS (e.g. turn-based RPGs), and those games have great visuals, then I'd get a decent OLED if you don't have other possible upgrade paths. If all you play are Esports games, a high refresh rate IPS is fine. If you only have a few hundred in fun money, I'd honestly just get a ~$200 Acer Nitro or similar IPS monitor. They're great for the price, and I still get good use out of mine after purchasing an OLED. If you still can't decide, head to a local store with IPS and OLED monitors on display and play around with them.
