neutralgarmin “VO2Max Crash”The VO2 Max calculator on a Garmin is just a sort of chart of pace vs heart rate and nothing else. It’s not a real measure of your VO2 Max. Clearly since it dropped since you added back your easy runs that is the reason it has changed. You increased the volume of running at slower paces your watch is using to estimate so it’s lowering it (at least that is my guess) My VO2 max went up to 54 two months ago and has slid back down to 51 despite me being more fit. I run 150 miles a month and have made significant gains in my threshold pace. When my V02 was “54” My watch estimated my threshold at 8:05/mile Now that it’s “51” it estimates a 7:20 threshold. If I’ve maintained my same volume but improved my threshold pace how can my VO2 have dropped? It’s just an estimate and I don’t really pay attention to it other than to see what it says. I don’t base anything off of it or consider either of those to be my threshold or my VO2 Back to you: Are you seeing a change in performance? Do you feel slower at the 5k distance? Trust your body and use the watch as a guide

neutralapplewatch “Blown away by the durability of Apple Watch after 1.5 years at the bottom of a lake”I have a friend who is die hard Samsung.. I gave up years ago trying to convince him (he’s German) to switch ecosystems.. anyways about z4 years ago he bought him and his wife a new Samsung galaxy watch - part of the reason they bought it was because they like to keep fit and swimming in the pool was a big part of it. I can’t remember the exact model but a big selling point was they could take it in the pool and record laps. I know all this because the first time they used it in the water at our local pool, my wife and I joined them (with our Apple Watches).. we weren’t doing laps, just having a swim.. anyways, they did about 4 laps and we notice them in the middle of the pool together looking at their watches. We swim over and lo and behold, their watches drowned.. I couldn’t say anything as I’m sure he was pissed.. our watches are still going strong. Saunas, pools, sweat. He’s still ride or die Samsung by the way.. they just take their watches off when they go in the pool now

neutralpots “Fitness trackers/smart watches with immediate heart rate alerts?”Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone has a fitness tracker or smart watch that provides immediate alerts if heart rate goes outside parameters. I currently have a Samsung galaxy watch, and you can customise the high/low heart rate thresholds and have continuous heart rate monitoring on (which I do), BUT it will only send a high/low heart rate alert if your heart rate is out of the parameters for 10 minutes while at rest. I'd like to be able to set my watch to immediately notify me if my heart rate goes above a certain level, say 130, at any point. Essentially, I want to be standing in my kitchen cooking, or walking around the shops, and have my watch tell me as soon as my heart rate goes above 130ish. The galaxy watch would not alert me while walking around at all, as I'm not at rest, and standing in my kitchen it would only alert me after 10 minutes above the threshold, if at all (as it may consider standing to not be at rest). I've found that when my heart rate raises above 130, it is best for me to sit down and recover as soon as possible. If I wait 10 minutes, I'm at risk of passing out. And yes, I can feel when my heart rate is elevated, but sometimes I'll be concentrating on whatever I'm doing and "ignore" the signs, or not notice them as much (I have ADHD and therefore interoception issues), and then by the time I realise or actually listen to my body, I only have time to sit on the floor rather than find a chair/bench. Not ideal. I don't even really use my galaxy watch for notifications for calls/texts etc because my phone has Bluetooth issues, so I don't really care if a smart watch or fitness tracker has this function. Continuous heart rate monitoring also means I have to charge my galaxy watch every day, which is annoying. So a watch or tracker with good heart rate and possibly blood pressure tracking, customisable alerts, and a decent battery life would be great. Please let me know if you have any suggestions!
