fitbit “Review from a 'causal' user tracking sleep and gym”

So I'd had the fitbit versa 4 for a few years. I found it absolutely terrible. Tracking was good but the screen was so glitchy and unresponsive. I'd sometimes have to press things multiple times and it would have a breakdown. But, I only wore it for gym and sleep as I wasn't fussed about anything else. Plus, I prefer to wear a analogue watch. So, I kept it.  When the fitbit air came out, I jumped on it. Seemed perfect for what I wanted it for, and I could wear it all day and still wear my mechanical. It arrived a few weeks ago.  At first, all was good. I have tiny wrists but it's comfortable enough and doesn't look too chunky. I don't like that the underneath isn't flat like the versa, as if I wear it too tight it hurts my wrist bone, but it's fine. Tracking seemed good, although I wasn't meticulously comparing, and again I'm only interested in my sleep (I have insomnia), gym (weight training) and occasionally heart rate.  However the last 2 nights the sleep tracking has seemed off. Last night for example, I slept really badly. Took a while to get to sleep, awake once or twice, including around 4am when my new puppy was barking and my husband and I had to rock, paper, scissors who was going to get up (I won, but got up to use the bathroom anyway). It was no surprise when my notification when I got up this morning said poor sleep... But when I clicked the notification to open the app, it said great sleep with a high sleep score, and it didn't seem to have tracked the 4am wake up, or the tossing and turning between 12-1:30. Very odd, but I'm not impressed and I hope it's not an ongoing issue.  The app is OK but could definitely do with some work as it doesn't feel as user friendly as before. Rather disappointing from Google.  Overall, for myself as a causal user, and the fact it was like £80 and came with a £35 giftcard, I can't complain all that much.  If you are more hardcore into fitness and nutrition tracking, and rely on accurate stats, I definitely wouldn't recommend!

garmin “Nike Fuel band --> Fitbit Versa 2 --> FR265”

My fitness tracker journey started with Nike Fueldband, until Nike killed it. It was cool basic tracker. I didn't use trackers for a long time until I got wife's old Fitbit Versa 2. After using it for a few years, I upgraded to FR 265 today. Wow! What an upgrade it feels. Beautiful fitness watch with so much to it. Looking forward to continuing my fitness journey with FR265

fitbit “Battery life since Google takeover”

I know people are tired of hearing about the new Google app takeover but I wanted to bring up another change that I’ve been really unhappy with recently. I have a Fitbit Versa 3 that I bought in August 2022 (not even 4 years old). When I bought it, I was really happy with the battery life, I could go like 5 days without charging, more recently every 3-4 days but still infrequently. Ever since my phone updated to the Google app, I now have to charge my Fitbit every single day. The battery now depletes so quickly that 100% goes down to 20% within one day. I know as devices age, battery life can become shotty but this feels crazy, and it was not like this before the new Google update. Is anyone else having this issue? And is it because Google is constantly syncing to my Fitbit? Is there a way to turn that off so it doesn’t drain the battery so fast?

fitbit “Garmin vs Fitbit”

I ended up going with the Garmin Vivosmart 5 when my the app quit allowing me to update my sleep for my Versa 2 and long before quit showing my step history. The connect app has the mountain hikes like the old Fitbit had. But fitbits was because you could view scenes from each venue. I left Fitbit because of the continuous degrading of the app.

fitbit “Update turned off Fitbit?”

Admittedly, my Fitbit versa 3 is five years old. However, up until this point it’s given me no trouble and holds battery for 3 to 4 days. Now suddenly with the new Google update my battery life went from 50% down to zero and I cannot get my versa to turn on again. I’ve had it plugged in overnight and I used a different charger as well. Still nothing the hard reset doesn’t work either. I’ve tried to update Multiple times through the app, but because the Fitbit is dead, it’s not doing anything. Is this coincidence or has the update screwed? My Fitbit and I have to purchase another one… i’m so annoyed Sidenote the google update also doesn’t track swimming labs correctly anymore. Edit: just got off phone. They were emphatic that it was a battery issue and had nothing to do with the app surprise surprise they said the changeover shouldn’t have done anything to the physical Fitbit. They offered me a 35% discount towards a new Fitbit…… great. So I’m shelling out money to a company the screwed up the perfectly working one. Bye bye Fitbit.
