Hi, the past week I got robbed my Xiaomi earbuds and I'm looking for something different. I've never used IEMs before so I don't know what I need or what is better for me. My budget is around 80€ which is like 90 dollars. I only use them to listening to music and watch vids. I also heard something about DACs and some people recommend buying them but I don't know exactly what they are. I case it helps, I'm not an iphone user. Any recommendations?

Just got the Xiaomi Redmi Buds 8 Pro and honestly the hardware is fine - the bass slaps. But the app? Whoever made it should be banned from touching a keyboard ever again. **You need an account just to update firmware** And good luck with that. The email verification screen shows up, the code arrives... but the input field is greyed out, no keyboard appears (Xiaomi uses their own keyboard), and you're completely stuck. Firmware update? Blocked. Congrats. **Battery life is a joke** Went from 100% to 95% in the first 10 minutes, then 95% to 90% in the next 10 - so 10% drop over 20 minutes without ANC, without LDAC. And it only got worse from there - left and right earbuds are now 5% apart. Also - the app doesn't even show the charging case battery level. It's 2026, guys. **Gestures are infuriating** Press-and-hold is hardcoded to ANC only. Fine. But if you adjust volume (swipe up/down), adjust the earbud in your ear, put it in or take it out - it mostly registers as an intentional long press, which depending on the setting, randomly enables ANC, disables it, or switches to transparent mode. For example Soundcore app lets you trigger ANC also with a double or triple press - way more reliable and customizable. **The equalizer is unusable** The frequency bands are tiny slivers - nearly impossible to tap accurately. And when you try to drag one up, the entire screen scrolls up \~1cm first before the band moves. Same thing going down. It's like fighting the UI every single time. **Summary** The bass is genuinely good. That's it. That's the whole list of positives. Everything else feels like a beta app shipped by someone who had a deadline and a lunch break. Hard to recommend until they fix this mess.

Last cheap earbuds I had were jbl vibe 100 and i think they were around 50 euros. After that I got xiaomi redmi buds pro 5, they were 80 euros at the time. The difference was significant, I liked the sound more and had ANC. Yet, I've also started to question wether it's worth to spend money on earbuds since they are very fragile, mine died after 2 years. Maybe headphones are a better investment?

As the fit wasn't solid, the ANC quality wasn't good enough for me either. But the showstopper for me was the hardcoded press-and-hold action, which is locked to ANC only. Since the touch area isn't on the stem tip but almost the entire stem side, anytime you adjust the volume, reposition the earbud, put it in, or take it out - it mostly registers as an intentional long press, which randomly enables ANC, disables it, or switches to transparency mode. Soundcore, for example, lets you trigger ANC with a double or triple press - far more reliable and customizable. Maybe better luck with an upcoming model.
