“Honestly the Apple AirPods are probably your safest bet if he has an iPhone - they just work without any fuss and the case is super simple to figure out. My dad struggled with cheaper buds but picked up AirPods instantly”

“Apple airpods 4 ANC have been really nice, they have a nice shape for my ear, ones with the suction cup don't fit. The active noise cancellation is still really effective, I don't have to increase the volume at all when next to a busy road”

Apple makes great stuff, but once you get the taste of android or if one is a super user iOS just feels dumbed down OS for geezers. Also one thing that you missed though you're really elaborate, whatsapp backup could only be done on iCloud in iPhone, you just can't do it in Google Drive, this was the most frustating part like why would I buy overpriced iCloud storage.

boat noise firebolt are just companies which import cheap earbuds from China and rebrand them as theirs and then sell in the indian market. That's why I always advice people to spend extra money and buy earbuds from reputed brands like apple,Samsung,OnePlus, realme, OPPO I can 100 percent guarantee they have better sound quality and have better quality control than these cheap Chinese earbuds.

headphoneadvice “created spreadsheet of 40 headphones by analyzing data from 90K Reddit comments. Honest take, there's almost no reason to spend over $100 on your first pair!”
Every day on this sub someone asks "should I get X or Y" and the answers are usually just people recommending whatever they own. So I tried to let the data answer instead. Built a comparison sheet from over 40 headphones and IEMs, full specs, plus sentiment from 90K Reddit comments scored for approval percentage. **The short version: the budget tier is embarrassingly good right now!** The Koss KSC75 at $20 has 85.7% Reddit approval. The Philips SHP9500 at $55 has 76.2%. The HiFiMAN HE400se at $79 gives you a planar magnetic driver, the same technology that costs $5,500 in the Susvara for under $80. A $49 Truthear Zero:RED has the highest approval rating of any IEM in the dataset at 86.7%. Meanwhile the Apple AirPods Max at $450? 59.5% approval. The Sony XM5 at $280? 63.6%. T he ATH-M50x that every "studio headphone" list recommends? 62.5%. Reddit doesn't actually like the headphones that the mainstream keeps pushing. My honest advice based on going through all 40, start under $100. Figure out if you like warm, neutral, or bright. Figure out if you need open-back or closed-back. Then upgrade intentionally. Don't start at $300 because a YouTube review told you to. I'm building this as a [crowdsourced resource](https://modernrelay.com/emilygrace12/headphone-dataset). If there's a headphone this sub keeps recommending that I missed, drop it below and I'll add it.

iems “IEMs gave me my music back!”
Back in the days when I lived alone, I pretty much listened to music at home \*all the time\*, through my stereo or later my computer or iPod with speakers. When I ended up having to live with roommates, they'd inevitably get sick of my tastes and I had to use headphones, which was mostly fine, for a while. The day my last pair of original round Apple earbuds died, the music died with them. I couldn't find my other favourites, Maxells, or any other flatheads in stores anymore. Everything was either in-ear earbuds, or earpods shaped, both of which hurt my ears and fell out. Over the ear headphones were only wearable for so long, so I only used them at work or while taking public transit. My car became the main place I still enjoyed music. When phones lost their 3.5mm jacks, things only got worse, because there's no handy string to easily retrieve the fallen buds. Tried a few open ear designs, all of which were tolerable at best, in both sound and comfort. Then recently, at my mother's house, I found an old pair of Apple earphones. She didn't want to let me steal them, so I took a pic and did an image search on AliExpress, found the term "flathead" I'd been looking for all these years. But I also found IEMs. Took a chance and ordered both, then ordered another pair of IEMs on Amazon while waiting for them to come in. After I got the first pair, the Castor bass edition, to fit right, it was as if a gate unlocked and I was finally able to step through and get my music back! Over 10 years, I've been waiting for something that was at least "adequate" in sound, size, and comfort, without being held back by battery life. And for half the cost of my last "adequate" Bluetooth set, I get something that absolutely destroyed everything else I've ever owned. Like in the Wizard of Oz when everything changes from black and white to colour. In the last month, I've probably spent more time listening to music at home than the last 10 years combined. I haven't even touched the flatheads yet even though they've now arrived. Thanks, IEMs, for giving me back a part of my life I'd lost for far too long!

headphones “Shokz OpenFit Pro Reveiw - From someone who actually paid for them.”
The weird guerrilla marketing push on various subreddits a few days ago was pretty off-putting. I was already in the market for something like these, but seeing a bunch of near-identical “reviews” all conveniently leaving out that the product was free really hurt their credibility. Judging by the comments, I wasn’t alone in feeling that way. That said, I still picked these up on release day and have been using them pretty much nonstop since. **Build / Comfort** Fit and finish on the Pros are excellent. I haven’t owned other Shokz products, but compared to older models online, these look and feel like a real upgrade. The case is big, but for hook-style earbuds it’s about as compact as it can be. Coming from AirPods it feels bulky, and it’ll definitely bulge in slimmer pockets, but overall this is a genuinely premium product from a build standpoint. **Sound Quality** I was impressed. Music sounds full and I never felt like I was missing bass. In a side-by-side with my older AirPods Pro, the difference was pretty negligible. I don’t think sound quality will be an issue for the vast majority of people. My use case is almost entirely podcasts and audiobooks, and this is where these really fell short for me. Spoken audio sounded oddly muffled, almost like listening through a thin layer of fabric. I tried the vocals EQ, but it didn’t make a meaningful difference. Any background noise made this worse and voices would get drowned out almost immediately. **Features** This is where things start to fall apart for me. I keep asking myself who these are actually for. Reviews lean hard on the “situational awareness” angle, but that doesn’t fully land when modern transparency modes already do this very well. These don’t solve that problem better than what’s already out there, and they definitely don’t justify a $250 price tag for me. The “sound suppression” feature is especially confusing. It’s clearly not ANC (the messaging on that front is clear), it cuts battery life in half, and it’s far less effective than real noise cancellation. This feels more like a reason to artificially inflate the price with an in demand feature that they tell you is going to fall short. **Overall** At the end of the day, these are still a niche product. They don’t have mass-market appeal and they’re clearly aimed at a specific use case. The problem is they’re priced like a mass-market flagship, while trying to justify that price by inventing problems and solving them poorly. It’s hard to imagine someone willing to spend $250 on these not already owning another pair of headphones for real noise cancelling. Drop the sound suppression feature entirely, price these under $200, and I think they’d be close to perfect for what they’re trying to be. For now, I will be returning them and continuing to search for a good-value open ear headphone.
