iems “My first IEM journey”

Ever since I got Spotify Premium, I was curious about experiencing it properly on my Google Pixel 8a. Although I have the Sony LinkBuds Fit with LDAC, and they already improved my experience, I could clearly hear the difference between the standard “high quality” setting and lossless with LDAC. Then I discovered the world of IEMs. I wasn’t sure what to get as my first pair and had been reading a lot online and here. I eventually chose the Kefine Klean as my first IEM, which I bought for around USD 30. After ordering the Klean, I received a lot of recommendations about using a DAC and ended up getting the NiceHCK Octave for about USD 65. With this setup, I can finally enjoy the micro‑details, clarity, and small elements I had been missing on my previous Bluetooth earbuds, which were too bassy. The Octave itself is simple‑looking, with no flashy design, but I absolutely love it. It comes with a dedicated app that I use for firmware updates, PEQ, and other settings. It also has dedicated volume and gain buttons. It does get warm after long listening sessions, and I notice noticeably higher battery consumption on my phone, since it is a powerful ESS‑based DAC. I’m planning to use it with my iPad from next week to enjoy longer sessions. My current setup: ✓ Google Pixel 8a ✓ NiceHCK Octave ✓ Kefine Klean ✓ Shanling DAC holder I also just received the Hidizs MP145 and a Fosi Audio DS2. I’ll be giving the Klean and DS2 to my girlfriend, and I’ll keep the Octave and MP145 as my main setup. Feel free to ask me any questions. Good to be here 😀

earbuds “Recommendations for true wireless earbuds in 2026?”

Hey team, Currently I have some Sony Linkbuds S, which have served me well - though I find them quite "plastic-y", and I'm looking to upgrade to something a bit more premium, as I have a small pot of money through work that I need to use before I lose. **My use case** * I use Android, no interest in Apple products * Audiobooks * Podcasts * Music (mostly listen to heavier stuff, metalcore, early 2000's emo tunes lol - but also ambient tunes, post rock, indie/acoustic, etc) * I run 3 times a week, and bike now and then - so they need to be secure and not feel like they're falling out. * At a minimum they need to be IPX4 water/dust resistant, as I love to listen use them in the spa/bath/don't want to worry if it's raining, etc. * ANC is a must have, as I fly relatively often for work travel + bus commutes. * Additionally, it would be great if it had decent mic quality for work calls from a cafe - but that's the bottom of the list. That's pretty much it. Budget is hopefully <$400NZD (\~$250USD), as I feel it's diminishing returns after then for consumer electronics. Can stretch it if it's worth it though. Thanks in advance!

Looks like they fairly new, I'm guessing a chart from the last 4 months would rate them much higher. I see people talking about them in here all the time. I put em on my Amazon list because of all the talk, and me giving up on Sony after my Link Buds S died after only a year--loved them, such a pity about the crap battery and lack of action from Sony.

earbuds “Replacing my Sony Linkbuds S”

Looking for recommendations to replace my Sony Linkbuds S as I have lost one earbud after many years! I have loved these and found them much more comfortable and with better sound quality than previous brands I've tried. Unfortunately Sony appears to have discontinued this line and I can't figure out which of their available models is a like-for-like replacement. Would love some recommendations on options for replacements - things that are important to me: \- Long battery life \- Excellent sound quality \- Good microphone \- Completely wireless and snug fit on small ear canals \- The ability to turn off ANC if the headphones have this enabled as I struggle with this being on when I am walking or in the same space as other people. \- Available to purchase from/in Australia. \- No budget for the right headphones as I use them every day!
