I'm looking to buy headphones/headsets for gaming and listening to music, etc at home., and I wanted to know which of these is better if I find them for the same price: HIFIMAN HE400se vs Philips Fidelio X2 vs FIIO JadeAudio JT1. I know that everyone has a different sound signature, but I'm undecided, I'm going crazy. I considered using IEMs, but my ears get very watery and I don't know if I would want to use them for 8 hours straight. I'm afraid the microphone might pick up audio from the 2open-back headphones; the mic options I'd probably consider are a desktop microphone or replacing the cable with one that has a built-in microphone. By the way, the prices I found for each are: Hifiman HE400SE - €77 used, €129 new-- no mic Philips Fidelio X2 - €79 used, €187 new-- no mic FiiO JT1 - €76 - new also comes with a mic the on cable also do you recommend any gaming headsets? First of all, I’m not an audiophile. For most of my life, I used budget-friendly Plantronics RIG 600 headphones; I was happy with their sound, design, and fit. Their only weak point was the build quality—the frame eventually snapped, causing them to lose their seal against my ears. Because of this, I got used to headphones that don't create a "vacuum" effect (not that they really did before, since they were more on-ear than over-ear), so I started looking into open-back models. ​ I tried the DT 770 PRO (closed-back) and the DT 990 PRO, and I realized I really liked the open-back concept. However, the "studio" sound didn't suit me at all (I tested the 80-ohm versions plugged directly into my motherboard's audio, which might not have allowed them to shine, but my budget wouldn't stretch to buying a dedicated sound card that cost as much as the headphones themselves). ​ Now, I’m looking for budget-friendly headphones (in the €70–€120 range) that sound great "out of the box" (low impedance, etc.) or can be driven easily by a simple dongle DAC (like the FiiO KA11). Based on my experience, I think I prefer a smoother "fun" sound profile with clear mids and highs, and bass that isn't too overpowering. I will use them as my daily-driver for music, movies, games and etc. ​ I’ve been eyeing the Philips SHP9500, but I’m still hesitant to buy headphones "blind" without knowing how they sound or feel. As the title says, i don't have any experience in headphones and audiophile stuff, i used to have a steelseries arctis 5 in the past but it broke down, currently use a razer blackshark v2 x for games and beats studio buds plus for music and movies, and now that im 19 and have some money i was wondering how i could elevate my audio experience, should i buy a dac or an amp ? upgrade my headset to quality headphones ? Or should i just do nothing and stick to my current setup ? I just wanna feel a big upgrade in audio quality in general, \-i listen to music alot everyday, sometimes for hours \-i watch a bunch of movies and tv shows \-i play single player video games mostly and i do also play competitive games with my friends some times \-Budget is 120 usd maximum \-aliexpress is my only choice as there arent many options locally in kuwait, and amazon is WAY too expensive, shipping reaches 50 usd for headphones so not worth it I dont know much about DACs and AMPs but as for headphones, I've been eyeing the Philips SHP 9500s, i found them for 80 usd shipping included on aliexpress, but im not sure if they'll provide a big upgrade over my razer v2 x or beats earbuds I'd appreciate it if you guys could guide a beginner on his audio journey, thx ^_^ Edit: thanks everyone for the insights and help! In the end i decided to go with the fidelio x2hr alongside the jcally jm-6 pro, found a deal on the x2hr for 115$ USD and the jm-6 pro for 11$ USD, just waiting for them to arrive, so in 2 weeks I'll post again to tell you guys about my experience, again thanks everyone!
