“If you can save a little more and get the Edition XV, it's a MUCH better tuned headphone to my ears. The XS can be a little harsh and sibilant in the treble, at least on my head (and seems to have a lot fewer QC issues overall!). Hifiman is hard to beat for value though!”

headphones “My first pair of Audiophile headphones”

So for a good bit now, I've been using a pair of HyperX cloud alpha S's for my PC setup, except after 3 years or so of using them, theyre literally falling apart and being held together by tape. Because of this, and that I've been listening to music a lot more, I knew I was gonna need a new set of headphones soon. Now my older brother uses a pair of DT-990 pro's (250 ohms), hooked to a fiio K5 pro, and recommend me to copy his setup. He did let me try his setup, and listen for a bit, and although they were definitely better than my old pair, they just didn't really feel "right," or comfortable. After some research I ran into the Hifiman Sundaras, and they really stood out to me. I did a good bit of research, and after a while, with them being $180 on Amazon, I finally got them, and have been using them for about a week now, paired currently with a fiio KA11, and a EQ (still planning on getting the fiio k5 pro soon), these sound absolutely AMAZING; I've never heard music this good. Everything feels more clear and open, idk how to explain it. Usually I listened to music either at school with my earbuds, or at my desk, but now I'll much more oftenly just sit or lay down with these on. These are literally game changing for everything.

FiiO UTWS5 2025 + any IEM (and at the same price of the names you mention above, you can have 3/4 IEMs to swap) HiFiMan Svanar I have both and tbh the Svanar case is massive but the headsets are really, really good. They have ANC and Transparency mode. FiiO is a good platform to build on, sound is clearly depending on the IEMs and it's a scalable platform depending on your tastes and needs and budget over time. But no ANC and the app is really useless.

iems “Kiwi Ears Cadenza 2 Overview (Sponsored by My Own Wallet)”

I'm not an iem expert by any means, I got my first set, the Aful performer 5 about a month ago and these, as a beater set to wear in work (groundskeeper) about a week ago. So far I'm pleasantly surprised, they sound pretty good to me, not as good as the P5 but not 3 times worse either like their price would suggest. I'm using Azla ASMR Max tips that I felt didn't quite work with the P5. They sit a little proud of the end of the ear tube (there's a little squish at the end) so I guess fit a little deeper into the ear canal and I think help the sound, though I don't have the ears or the vocabulary to explain how or why. I've worn them for 3 hours at a time and have no fatigue at all, they sound very relaxed and easy to listen to for long periods and are comfortable and light and the included cable is perfectly acceptable. They don't have amazing treble extension or detail but I guess that's the trade off for smoothness and comfort. Longevity, especially gardening outdoors in Irish weather remains to be seen. (I got them after burning through 5 sets of wireless ANC earbuds in 3 - 4 years) so I'm not easy on them by any stretch but if they last a decent amount of time it's a no brainer at this price. I'll report back on how well they hold up, if they can survive a decent amount of time with me they'll survive anything. It'll be a good stress test if nothing else. I like that they have a grill on the ear tube but would have liked a case, though at this price I can't really complain. I have the Qudelix 5k and have messed around with PEQ and they seem to EQ well. Coming from the tws world, I've boosted the bass quite a bit and the treble slightly and they've reained their smoothness. Take all of this with a grain of salt, like I said I'm no expert and don't have the vocabulary to properly review them but I'm another happy customer. For comparison I have or have had in the past. Sony WF and wh xm4, technics az80, JBL tour pro 3, Bose quietcomfort ultra, aful P5 and hifiman Ananda nano.
