“I'd get the Liberty 4 Pro out of your list. I replaced my H3's with Edifier Neobuds Planar, great comfort and better sound quality but terrible controls. The Soundcore is a well rounded product. Also consider the Fiio FW5 if sound quality matters.”

earbuds “$120ish Solid Earbuds (On my 3rd pair)”

I originally posted this review for Edifier Neobuds Pro on Amazon so it's just a copy/paste. I just ordered my third pair. The last pair I ordered was June 2023, and the pair before that in 2021. About 2 and 1/2 years of durability is great even though we all wish our stuff lasted forever. I noticed the drivers going out a few months ago, possibly 6. So it's 2 years of strong use, plus 6 more months of usability. Same thing happened with both pairs, the drivers in the left, more frequently used earbud started going out, while the right pretty much remained fine. Though randomly the right earbud in the last pair completely stopped connecting out of nowhere. That was last week. Being so close to black Friday I thought I would wait for a deal. Not wanting to go without headphones I saw a pair Soundcore Liberty 4 on sale for $60 down from $100. Decided to take a chance and maybe switch, but they sounded so bad. I could not enjoy listening to music even after trying the eq personalizations. Unless one of the fancy pairs go on sale, I'm fine paying a little over a hundred dollars for the neobuds pro and continuing to use the same series I have been. The battery life is about 4 - 5 hours, and I rarely have an issue with that.

earbuds “Looking for long lasting earbuds”

I own the nothing Ear Flagship, and they are aesthetically pleasing and comfortable but... Despite LDAC support I would advise you choose something else. The Nothing's stem (for the eartip) is too short to attach your own eartip, and foam/better silicone is one of the cheapest ways to improve sound quality. Edifier, a moondrop option, or the Denon PerL pro, instead! PS: Beats will having reportedly better battery, is normal. So will most lower quality in ears, simply because they are lower quality. Battery life complaints *always* arise with LDAC, after all! You were correct -- SBC requires less energy/bandwidth than LDAC/AptX, so it isn't exactly a fair comparison. If you're going to compare battery of hi-res devices, it is best to compare them against one another (or ensure you are comparing the lower quality mode/codec). Edit: I do have to admit. The Nothing has held its battery wonderfully over the past year I've had it. I haven't measured it, but the battery still holds a charge well during extended wear. My Edifiers sound better, but I've noticed the left earbud being near dead after 4+ hours (weekends skating). Both are LDAC, same device. I grab one or the other, whichever I happened to remember charging

earbuds “Recommendations for earbuds under NZD$150/USD$90?”

Wanting to purchase a new pair of earbuds, to replace my current Edifier NeoBuds Pro 2s. Wanting at the very least 4 hours of battery life, and at the very least about 12 hours on the case. Would like some ANC but the quality of the ANC isn't too much of an issue for me, but it must have some similar sound quality to the NeoBuds I currently have.

Ah, I see! Well, knowing that helps loosen the restrictions a little. Have you tried earbuds with transparency / passthrough? If not familiar, what they do is the *opposite* of noise cancellation. They have mics that pick up the ambient sound, and then mix that with whatever you're listening to. So long as you're not playing music at loud volumes, you can hear everything around you. It lets me keep both of my earbuds in when skating and be fully aware of my surroundings. I'll hear the sound of my skates beneath me, people talking behind me, or even people shouting from across the rink. Transparency is becoming an even more common feature nowadays, so I'm sure you can find off-brand items if you'd like to keep it simple and inexpensive. But if you'd like a bang-for-your-buck strong performer, I like the Edifier Neobud Pro. Fantastic sound, supports high resolution Bluetooth (if your phone does too), and great balance of transparency audio + music (again, if not too loud). Normally $120 USD, but I picked mine up at $80USD. It's a fairly common discount from what I've seen

Not airpods! You can get higher quality for cheaper on an android (Android supports higher quality Bluetooth audio transmission). Most flagship androids support LDAC, and in addition to that, flagship Samsungs (snapdragon models) also support AptX. There's a chance he might be one of the ones that don't hear a difference, but at least he will have the chance to try. I have personal experience with the Moondrop Robin, Edifier Neobud Pro (gen 1), Nothing Ear (Flagship). If he's coming from basic earbuds, all of these on LDAC should sound great. The neobuds may be the easiest if he is non-techy. - LDAC will appear as part of the phone's default Bluetooth menu. No digging through app settings - The transparency mode is easily toggled by tapping the earbud, rather than squeezing buttons like the Nothing - Transparency mode has voice that clearly announces "Ambient sound," as opposed to a sighing noise by the Nothing. I've had friends A/B test airpod pro (gen 2) vs Neobuds on my S22 ultra, and they generally agree that they either hear no difference, or the neobuds sound better (LDAC enabled of course), despite the air pods being 3x more expensive. The only catch is that LDAC does have less battery life, and I do use foam eartips on my Neobuds (which improves sound). It saves you money, and your friend gets higher quality. You both win ☺️ Otherwise, if you want to invest in premium, for same price as airpods, the Technics AZ80 or Denon PerL pro are solid choices that his phone can make full use of. In my opinion, air pods only win in terms of comfort--and they're VERY respectable in that regard. I have no hate for airpods, especially for iPhones. Android can just make full use of more options.
