I have a modded Senny HD6xx, it's sound quality is very good...but my Sony MDR M1 with better quality pads full range sound quality is clearer, not harsh at all but cleaner. I will keep both till death do us part.

Hello everybody! I've been casually scrolling through this community now for a couple weeks probably now, and it's very much so peaked my interest in getting myself a pair of IEMs. I'll start off with some background info, I am new to the whole IEM world, and the audio world in general so I don't know all the terms just yet. I mainly listen on a iPhone 16 Pro, and for the longest time I just had AirPods, and hey y'know they were doing the job. However I broke them like a year ago, and just started using some cheap basic earbuds that just had nothing really going for it. Just last month I decided I wasn't going to buy yet another pair of AirPods, so then I did some very surface level reading for cheap earbuds and I landed on the Sony MDR-EX15AP. For a $10 pair of earbuds they are actually pretty good, HOWEVER this is when I had a little epiphany and found this subreddit. While reading about those Sony's, I came across a post about the Apple Dongle, and how it is a decent starting budget DAC? Well I hadn't known what a DAC was, or that the Dongle did anything other than let me plug in my earbuds (don't judge). But I was now curious, I went out and bought a dongle and the Sony earbuds and decided to do a little test for myself. I tried the USBC cheap earbuds, some really old Apple earbuds + Dongle, and then the Sony + Dongle, and my mind was blown that all three sounded VASTLY different, with where the volume started, how well I could hear the vocals, etc. So now for the past month I've been reading more and more about them, and I do really want to try a pair of IEMs out. Of course the question is which ones? I know this must be a fairly common question, and I don't want to be too repetitive. But every post has a different recommendation, for a different type of music listener, and a different genre of music. So I'll add some more information below to maybe help you all narrow down your recommendations for me! \- I am looking for IEMs that are under $50, this is my starter and I don't feel super comfortable diving in super deep right away. \- I listen to all my music on Spotify, and I will just be upfront I am so far really liking the lossless audio (I know it isn't true FLAC, but close enough). I do game a little but that's not my main consideration. \- My favorite band is The Beatles, I also routinely listen to John Lennon and George Harrison's solo stuff, I dabble in some Modern Baseball and Nirvana especially when I'm feeling down, and I am also just a big fan of indie rock like Current Joys, Mac DeMarco, Beach House. \- I *THINK* I am looking for a neutral sound signature, but from what I've read I don't know how realistic that is, or if that would go good with my music taste. Alright well that's all I can think to write, but if you have any questions I'll try my best to answer them! Also I know this is all like 50% subjective, just because something works for one person doesn't mean it will for another, but I don't really know where else to start. Thanks in advance!

picked up the Sony mdr ex1000 in like 2011-2012.
