WH-XB900N

Unfortunately my xm5 broke. I used it heavily. All day, anc, metro….since xm5 launch never used a case and it broke almost 4 years later. I was tempted to get a xm6 or another xm5, but trying same stuff again kinda bored me. Also hinges are not reliable (even for xm6). Before xm5 I had xb900n (extra bass). I’ll keep this updated on how it goes because I believe more people are doing this transition. Edit: \- First impressions Box way heavier than xm5, xm6. The case has already some fur on it... Huge negative point for me because generally I just throw my headphone inside bag with towel, t-shirts… this will be a mess with white clothes. The package is not great. Cables on another mini box, the usb and headphone cable are white. My headphone is black. The headphone is absolutely gorgeous. Incredible even more when you see it by yourself. They look way better than on video/pics. The foam is definitely better than xm5’s. I wear glasses so i’m already using mine and cant feel the pressure I had from xm5’s. The foam itself is noticeably bigger than xm5’s. The sound as-is from the box is awful. You should download nothing app, grab the bass firmware, then head for eq settings. I noticed a dramatic improvement after eq but the calibration test I took on the app got it on a really great level. Lossless songs are much better than dolby’s, while on sony’s I could notice the difference but on a lower quality difference. That said, if you listen to a lot of songs that doesnt have extra quality, have that in mind. I might be biased for first day excitement but I felt strong bass after app settings. By strong I mean decent and high quality. But for other songs (rock, instrumental) eq tuning could need some refinement. What I felt better overall: comfort, foam, glasses, design, bass (some songs) What I felt worse: packaging, case (now I care about it lol), too much eq tuning needed while sony’s is just take it from the box and rock it. Did later today: anc on public transportation and metro 👀👀👀 ANC testing ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ Public/subway:less ok than xm5…but with volume a bit up, voilá! It works! Street: works surprisingly good!!!! No issues at all, blocked everything, traffic noise. I think the trickiest for ANC on nothing’s are frequencies like (planes, train, subway). I was worried about anc on these but it works… Let’s see if I can keep the nothing’s! 🤞

I bought older Sony models off eBay, XB900n's and these things hit. $40. Reminded me of the old super bass xb950bt's which I think I'll be ordering soon even though they charge via micro USB.

I have had my Sony XB900n for 5 years, and now the left earcup has suddenly stopped working. I'm not sure if they can be fixed. I have looked at the solder points, and they look fine, and the ribbon cable is intact, but it could possibly be the cable in the headband. So now I need help deciding on what headphones to upgrade to. My budget is around $100 to $200 please help.
