HD 598 SR

Hello everyone. I don't talk on here very often but I had been searching for headphones after my last pair which lasted me about 13 years (Sennheiser HD598's) and still worked fine. I settled on the Aune AR5000's because they fit my pricepoint. I got them, EQ'd them and fell in love with that nice creamy bass. That was exactly 14 months ago. For my usage I babied them, was always gentle despite the feeling of sturdy construction, and adored them. Never dropped. I have a small'ish to medium head. When I would use my pc I would simply pick them up and put them on like any other headphone. Today I wake up and the absolute weirdest thing happen, I went to put them on but they weren't... feeling right, I checked and YEP, they had cracked from soft usage after a year. I had seen other users with the pin for the ear support coming out because it was plastic but thought it would never happen to me because I'm so gentle with them. I have emailed my retailer and aune to see what they say but I'm pretty sure I'm SOL. My advice? DO NOT BUY. This isn't a quality control problem, its a design and fundamental flaw in having that section made from plastic. I'm livid and now have to go searching for new headphones AGAIN. EDIT: If aune refuse to help I will investigate the replacement bands, or just outright upgrade to a pair of Meze 105's These headphones were great for gaming and music and I feel the 105's have a better looking construction. Also after plugging my over decade old HD598's they sound almost as good as the Aune AR5000's. So I think my over-enthusiasm for their sound might have been for reasons I can't explain. These are 90% the headphone sound of them and considering the age of them, that's hilarious.

Got myself the still fairly new HD 500 BAM (Boom Arm Microphone). See pictures attached here :) This basically transforms our HD 500 series headphones as well as the HD 620S into gaming or office headsets - something we have been sorely missing, imo! This is my first step-up since using a Sennheiser HD 598 for over a decade. However I'm not sure what to pair them with (that's both affordable and fits my use-cases). I'll either be listening to music off my phone (iphone with lightning connection using Apple Music), or from my TV, where my PC+PS5 are connected, so most likely using the TV's AUX out extended to my couch. I was hoping to get all the items from the same website (also grabbing a Klipsch soundbar). Ideally something with some extra headroom (I heard that's a good thing?). The first Moondrop is really cheap and portable which is great, while the iFi seems to have all kinds of connections, I'll just need to make a spot for it on my coffee table. Alright, so Sennheiser won't just sell me the part for the head band clip (which, based off of other posts here and their subreddit, is a pretty common part that seems to either break off or get lost on the headphones that others are selling 3D printed spares of, yet they don't actually sell it for some reason beyond me) and refers me to send it in for servicing, yet I have no warranty on it due to it being a second hand purchase, and would end up likely costing way more than I would like to pay for just the parts plus shipping. All to have someone else look at it somewhere else away from me and snap the part in, when I'm willing to just pay them for the part and do it myself. I found an STL file for the part in question. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2855971/files So I thought I'll just go the 3D printed route to get the part I want, save some money, and possibly have some left over for others that want to get the same part made that can't make it themselves. I advocate for right to repair and really don't like that they don't give you an option at all to buy the part yourself and get it fixed by yourself. The question is though, what material and way should I do it? Should I go with FDM, SLA or some other method for it? I just want it looking as close as possible to the original thing, and will likely be going through someone like JLC to have it printed by them and shipped to me by the bag full plus shipping. I'm not doing this for resale and it is just to calm my own mind so when I max them out on adjustment because I have a melon of a head (around 4 clicks from max on both sides for a proper fit), I won't have to worry about one of the arms of it just popping out if I adjust it too far. If anyone else has attempted it for themselves and have any input, please let me know.

I am looking to make my first serious dynamic headphone purchase. Seems almost like the 6 series is a requirement for this. I also like that they are 300 ohm and would make using a tube amp(eventually) work well. I guess I am trying to decide which one to get. My primary concern is comfort for long listening. I prefer a slightly warm sound but will have PEQ available, so I guess it's not a requirement. Anyone that has tried the 600 or 650 vs the 660S2 that can provide input? Is there something else I should be looking at as well? I'm also considering the Meze 105 Aer, but they are only 32 ohm. Might get those eventually anyway as they are supposed to be comfy and look great. I would prefer to keep the budget under about 400 dollars USD. This will be used for home listening only. Don't care about portability. I currently have a Sennheiser HD 598 and just got a pair of Hifiman Ananada Stealth for my birthday. My first planar's. I really like them. Appreciate any thoughts or opinions. I have JDS Labs headphone amps and a Schiit stack as well. Don't care if they are open or closed back.
