YouTube hype everywhere: *“best gaming headset”, “amazing sound”*. About €110 later, reality hit me: **Logitech software was an absolute joke**.I kept lying to myself that they “sound good”. When that stopped working, I bought **Razer Blackshark V2** (€130). I thought: *ok, at least Razer software is better*. Wrong! If Logitech was bad, **Razer was even worse**. Next step: **Astro A50 Gen 4** (€280). Decent sound, nice wireless, BUT the well-known base station connectivity issues. I opened them up and rearranged the internal cables. It worked… until it didn’t.Still not satisfied. Then came **Audeze Maxwell** (\~€400). Good headphones. I still use them today. But somehow… *still not enough*.So I tried: * **Beyerdynamic MMX 330 Pro** (€330) Very happy. Really. But of course… not the end. Next: * **Fiio K7 DAC/AMP** (€220) * **DT 990 Pro Black – 250 ohm** (€170) This was the first time I thought: *ok, now this actually sounds right*. But YouTube and Reddit did their thing, and I started drooling over **DT 1990 Pro MK2** (€499). I bought them. I use them daily. And honestly: **I go to work and can’t wait to come home to listen to music or game**. # Conclusion from my own experience: **Stop wasting money on gaming headsets,don´t be stupid like i was !** Most of them are **overpriced, marketing-driven and held back by terrible software**. If you want real sound quality: * proper headphones (like **DT 1990 Pro MK2**) * a decent **DAC/AMP** For me, **Fiio K7 + DT 1990 Pro MK2 is endgame**. I’m done chasing upgrades.

headphoneadvice “Are these headphones worth it even using a discount code?”

I am trying to buy a new headset right now and I have a few options in mind. I was looking at stuff like the Logitech G Pro X, the Steelseries Arctis 7, and the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless. Out of all of them the Cloud Alpha Wireless is the one that stands out to me the most, cause I can get them with a discount using checkmate and I've seen a lot about it on YouTube and it looks like something I would actually like. Before I order it though I wanted to hear what you guys think about this headset and if it is actually worth it. I do not know that much about headphones so I do not want to buy something that is all hype. If you have used these before, how is the comfort and sound quality for long sessions, and is the battery life as good as people say. And if you think there are better options around the same price, let me know because I am open to suggestions.

headphoneadvice “Sick of "gaming" headsets, need some recommendations.”

I've spent way too much money on "gaming" headsets at this point, my last two (Logitech g pro x 2 lightspeed, and steelseries arctis nova pro wireless... I mean the names themselves are obnoxious) have been decent in terms of audio quality, but comfort leaves a LOT to be desired, even with aftermarket earpads. (Prior to those two headphones, I used a Razer blackshark v2 pro which were perfect in terms of earcup size and also the fact that they wouldn't fall off my head if I looked up or down.) Up to this point I've primarily been using wireless headphones, mainly because the wires used to really irk me, they would rub on my clothes making loud sounds and would also rub on my neck leaving friction burns, but I'm ready to go back now for a number of reasons. Mainly it's the fact that you're spending more money for a set of heavy and uncomfortable headphones, occasional audible 'popping', and subpar build quality. Essentially I want them to be comfortable for extended uses (up to 12 hours a day), won't fall off my head if I look up or down, have earpads large enough to fit my ears in them (which are approx. 70mm tall, 45-50mm wide and 15-20mm in depth. give or take 5mm) and aren't too heavy on the clamping force as I have a pretty wide head that's prone to headaches. Also just want to apologise for being so picky, I really don't mean to come across as difficult. My PC is on my right side, so preferable the cable comes out of the right earcup (which I know is rare) or both earcups. It's been a while since i've had wired headphones but one thing I remember struggling with was the cable rubbing on my shirt, maybe that was just a bad one off experience though. As for usecase, I only really play singleplayer games, I'm a very casual/moderate gamer these days. So I don't really need anything fancy on that account. I do however listen to a lot of music and media. I'm not too picky with audio, just as long as the sound is clean (i.e. bass doesn't overwhelm mids and highs, and vice versa) and the highs aren't tinny or make your eardrums bleed. Essentially comfort is my main concern, I will put up with anything else honestly. Budget is preferably under $500AUD but can stretch to $700AUD. Also let me know if I might need a dac or amp, or some tips on dealing with cables for someone who isn't used to them. Also I've flaired this post with 'Open back' but I'm also open to closed back, which i'm frankly more used to coming from the gaming brands, so just keep that in mind. Thanks! Hi i am in need of the beehive knowledge! would really appreciate it if you could help me out with your wisdom \- after all these years of gaming i want to push through and invest in a "audiophile" headset and get that experience, right now testing Sennheiser HD 490 Pro but unsure about it. i always used to have these gaming headsets, my earlier ones were the logitech g pro x which i really liked, but when they broke, i reordered wireless and wired and both sounded ass so they changed the quality, however my solid one for years were the Astro A40 with mixamp, which comfort wise are a 100/10 but obviously the sound is not the greatest. now i bought the Sennheiser HD 490 Pro in combination with the FIIO K11 Amp. right now using the mixing earpads. all in all really solid, and im aware that it is definetely a switch from a gaming headset to a studio headpone and it can feel very neutral. which it actually does for me. ive experimented with EQ by now, right now using the EQ by Super\* Reviews (picture) which fits the best for me as of now and is enjoyable, also tested oratorys1990's EQ which seems to be like the goat to go from, but didnt like it at all. Sound Quality is really decent but im, definetely, missing the click moment when listening to music, even with my favorite tracks, the enjoyment and this "holy shit lets go" moment is not quite there, even tough i listen to the hardest bangers. i plan to use it to play tactical fps games like CS2, and of course listening to music - emo rap(beaty), some pop direction, right now listening much to EDM, trying to find my taste but i definetely like DnB. as of rn Techno, some UK Speed Garage, house, stutter house sort of - big fan of Fred Again, also listening to Illenium for years for example. when listening to music i tend to focus and enjoy vocals, beat and the vibe both together create, in both ways positive or negative emotion and thats also what gives me enjoyment in listening to music so me as someone who has no clue, would think a warm sounding headphone with strenghts in mids and highs + bass since i listen to alot of Beat/EDM type music would be right for me... also since i tend to enjoy the big picture of songs, like not listening to details really, i would assume a studio headphone like the HD 490 Pro is too neutral and not the way to go for me? \- comfort is actually a number 1 priority for me and goes above sound all the way, right now with the HD 490 Pro its great. ive had the MMX300 years years back and for me as someone wearing glasses its a no go comfort wise, hurts and sweating \- i get fatigued quite easily from audio it seems, regarding listening to people. i have problems with finding the right volume in which i can understand well enough and not get fatigued if that makes sense if you did read all that i appreciate you very much, and hopefully i can get some input, suggestions, help, thank you.

headphoneadvice “Advice for buying gaming headphones”

Hi everyone, I need to buy some wired gaming headphones. I'll only use them at home for long sessions of single-player games. My priority is audio quality and immersion in the game, the microphone I'll use little so it takes a backseat but it's still important. I'm looking for a wide soundstage, balanced audio and of course comfort, the budget is around €80-90. I'm undecided between HyperX Cloud III (on sale at €60) and Logitech G Pro X SE (€90). Has anyone tried both? I've seen that the Hyperx have better audio quality while the Logitech have the better microphone, but are the differences that big? Are there other options under €100 that I should consider?
