headphones “My audio journey (with a rankings list)…”
Around September 2025 out of sheer boredom I wanted to try to improve the sound quality of games I play on my PC. What started out as a 200$ purchase became an obsession. At that time I had a 50$ Corsair HS 50 Pro that I had been using for past 3 years. The pleather pads had worn out but Corsair was kind enough to ship me a brand new set. I liked it so much I even bought a spare. It did imaging well and was amazing for fps games. I was never a music buff and usually listen to most of the stuff that is on radio. Since then, I ordered a lot of headphones and with each purchase I realized that something doesn't sound right. Then I started buying small DACs to improve the sound quality compared to onboard audio. I have been experimenting with audio and trying different products as much as I can. I never intended to write about it or create a list but I figured sure why not? Which brings me here. I have been extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to try a lot of products out right now. I don't intend to maintain or update this list often as I feel I am at part of the journey where I have listened to most things I enjoy. I have found my sound signature and also the right equipment that works for me for both gaming and music. Having said that would love your thoughts on the list and also your own audio journey. You can find the full list with associated disclaimers and short TLDR. [KAC's Audio Rankings](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CXKFpp0FhTpr9QA9S_lOt2_-aML6hsGa09QKtPAcbMk/edit?usp=sharing) There is a sea of headphones I haven’t tried. I can only try what is available to me. But think it might be helpful for someone who is looking. My top ranked headphones after auditions and ownership are (only stock photo is Susvara as I forgot to snap it on Can Jam). Susvara Unveiled HE1000 Unveiled HE-1 Arya Stealth Arya Unveiled Susvara Caldera Open Elite Utopia LCD-X Maxwell 2 Composer E3 Stellia 480 Pro What I own currently is also listed in the file. LMK your thoughts. I will add a recommendation section to file soon for each budget. It may include things I haven’t personally tried yet but researched enough to recommend them. EDIT 1: I finished the gaming list as it was a bit easier to do. Music list coming soon! EDIT 2: Added disclaimer about source gear. EDIT 3: Added counter of views to the intro sheet. Possibly too late lol. EDIT 4: WIP music reco sheet added with full methodology of my testing for music including tracks and what I look for.

headphoneadvice “Looking For an Immersive Headphone Good for Gaming Movies and Music $100”
Hey Everyone as the title suggests im looking for an immersive gaming headset I will be using them to play non competitive games watching movies music and chatting to friends on discord. My room is quiet so open backs are okay as well I am upgrading from the corsair hs35's as my pair recently broke down my budget is looking around $100 and I am located in South Africa. Wide sound stage is preferred for that immersive feel.

Looking for some headphones with noise cancellation. My roommate has recently taken up to listening to music and singing(very poorly) in our shared office space. My budget is flexible but I’d prefer not to go over 450 usd before shipping. Use case is as follows: wireless/wired on my pc, wired from my pedalboard as needed while I’m playing guitar(has a specific output for headphones) and wireless from my phone when I’m doing things around the house. Possibly will bring them to the range if I feel like I want to listen to music while shooting. Current headphones are the Corsair virtuoso XT(I believe) and I like everything about them except the lack of noise cancellation. Current earbuds are the Beats Pro. I like them for the all around balance, but the lack of built in EQ possibilities makes me feel like something is lacking. Preferred music is metal. I will be wearing these in public, mostly on my lunch break and when I’m working on equipment in our lockup.

I’m looking for business headphones with strong sidetone. I recently bought the Corsair HS80 Wireless for gaming and really like the sidetone on those. I’m now looking for something similar in terms of sidetone, but more suited for work, with a solid mic and a lightweight design. My budget is 300-400 USD.

headphoneadvice “Looking for something similar, but sturdier”
Recently I’ve been looking at new pairs to replace my Corsair HS60 Pro (Model RDA0027). I’m not in a rush because they still work, but the material around the left slide adjuster is cracked and it needs to be plugged in at a certain angle for the sound to work properly. I decided it would be okay to go a bit cheaper and got a HyperX Cloud III, but when I tried them on I was immediately dissatisfied with the size of the cushions and the audio quality, compared to what I was used to. The cord was also a bit too short without plugging in the usb adapter, but that’s my own fault. When I looked up my own kind again (current one being sold is HS60 Haptic), the price was higher, and it had a usb connection instead. If I’m going to be spending that much anyway, I might as well go for one that will last. (Not including links to amazon because of what the rules said about automod, I can in the comments if you need) So basically: - Over ear headphones - Closed back - 3.5mm jack preferred, usb is okay if it’s the only option - Similar cushion size(but not TOO big) and similar audio quality to the HS60 - Mic not needed - Preferred price range around $150 usd, but may go higher if it’s worth it
