DT 880 Pro

I listen to: \- 70's music \- Jazz \- Djent/prog/prog metal \- Classical \- Alternative/Indie \- Folk I currently own Beyerdynamic DT880's semi open. What I like about them: incredible clarity, which I value highly. I like to be able to discern what each and every instrument is playing. Fit is super comfortable What I don't like about them: Bass lacks oomph; high frequencies are too piercing; the cord is ten feet long which is five more than I need. Where I listen: at home and at work. Taking a walk, doing chores. Noise cancellation is not strictly necessary. What I listen on: smartphone with headphone jack.

Sometimes late at night I practise my DJing. I usually use my LCD-X for this, but I do find that they can sometimes be a bit too analytical. Has anyone compared these two headphones? If so how do they compare? I had a set of DT880 once, and they were nice, but i did find them a bit bass light, though this was probably down to them being semi-open. I tried the 770 pro once as well, but they got returned, but i can't remember why. Feel free to recommend something else, but do need to be the follwong. I am looking for closed backs for a bit of contrast against the LCD-X. Ideally they will be fun and nice sounding. My sound preference is a warm cintage sound, rather than a m,odern clinical one. Being a bit bass heavy is a bonus, not a negative. Engagment and an immersive feeling is what I am ideally after. It is also very important that they have a single, detachable cable. Budget is 500 dollar pounds or less.

My advice on the Beyer headphones, make sure you get 32 or 80 ohm version if you're not planning on amplifying. I have the DT880 250 ohm version which I bought second hand a long time ago before I knew about what that meant. They only came to life when I added a decent headphone amp. If I had my time again, I would have bought the DT770's as I prefer slightly heavier bass. Amp if you can justify the extra spend.

Hi, I have tried to research this the best I could before making this post, but nothing seems to be more than a couple years old. I've been using a pair of DT880 600 Ohm as my main PC headphones for at least 5 years and I think it's finally time to retire them (They have exposed wires and have just really been put through it). I have been running them off a Topping E30 DAC and Schiit Magni Heresy Amp no problem whatsoever. I mostly use them for gaming, both competitive and casual, as well as to listen to music/tv/movies etc. I found back in 2019/2020 when I was coming from a pair of Superlux hd668B's, I initially got a pair of AKG K712pro's. Extremely comfortable, amazing for music, but just sucked for gaming in my opinion, far far far too much bass and everything just sounded muffled. I settled on the DT880 then, and what I felt was a sense of clarity when gaming with them, the soundstage was amazing and footsteps/ locational sounds you use in comp games were clear as day. They definitely weren't as comfortable as the AKGs, but the pros outweighed the cons I know I want open back, and my budget is about £250 (I live in the UK), but preferably I wouldn't hit that price. Shortlisted so far: - Fiio FT1 Pro - Hifiman Sundara - Hifiman Edition XS - Dt1990 (I'm aware this is really out of budget) - Hifiman Ananda Are they any I'm missing? I think all these shortlisted need to give me a reason to not go and buy another DT880 at £169, so any input is helpful! If you need any more information, I'll reply ASAP! Thanks in advance :)

Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pros. They’re not wireless, but man do they have amazing comfort. I wear them for 9-10 hours, twice a week, and have been doing so for eleven years. They sound good, feel great, and aren’t that expensive. Worth it for the wire.
