Playstation Vita

Well yeah, it came out in 2011. It is almost 15 years old. As much as I think it’s the best and most elegant handheld Sony has made, I wouldn’t recommend getting it over something newer. But for those that already own it, I think it is totally worth digging out and appreciating the nice hardware it is. That it’s easy to hack these days is a bonus.

I haven't played with it yet, just showing some size comparisons since I have original hardware. I got the RG Vita because with GammaOS Next it seems to be close to the Pocket Air Mini. Since the Mangmi Air X went up in price I wanted to have an option to recommend over the Pocket Air Mini. I like the PAM but it feels weird recommending it after ayaneo's preordering issues and the shell cracking problems me and a couple others have had. Ayaneo replaced the shell for free but I'd like to be able to recommend something that doesn't have that problem in the first place. **Compared To Vita:** \- Same thickness \- Much wider shell by about an inch and a half \- Bigger d pad, rubber membrane \- Bigger sticks, both in surface area and height, LGBT light up stick and removable too \- Both have all glass fronts \- Thinner shoulders but has triggers, clicky though and not full triggers, and the bumper and trigger buttons are that cool vita transparent. \- Pocketable but not in jeans, would recommend a bag or as a home console \- Chunky, much larger than I was expecting. \- Downfiring speakers, headphone jack, usb c, wifi 5, all that jazz \- No lanyard holes :( \- Feels weirdly empty compared to the PS Vita. Not as weighty, the ps vita feels like the components are packed tight. This doesn't really matter but some people might find the rg vita to be oddly weightless. **Compared To PSP:** \- MUCH bigger \- Skinnier though \- Smaller face buttons and d pad, the buttons all have greater travel and don't feel as close to the face plate as the psp's buttons do. \- Real analog sticks \- A lot of differences that you'd expect just from modern advances. Like USB C instead of 5v charging dc or mini usb for pc connection. \- No transparent bumpers or lanyard hole. **Compared To RP3+** \- Round \- No weird side buttons that you accidentally press with your palm. \- Similar sticks but taller on the vita \- Bigger d pad and face buttons \- No HDMI out on base rg vita \- RP3+ triggers feel closer to real triggers as they pivot. RG Vita's only look like triggers, they're very shallow and clicky. \- Much bigger, thicker, and not as ugly (personal opinion) **Overall** I like the aesthetic even if it can't play vita games. It feels comfortable enough, although the lack of ergonomics makes me think shooters might be an issue with its lack of booty cheeks to grip onto. I have the RG34XX and a GBA and those two felt like twins with different haircuts. The RG Vita and PS Vita feel more like an older sibling and younger sibling. Like you can tell they're related. Weirdly though, I don't think the average person would ever confuse it with a PS Vita because of the lack of branding and the lack of silver edges.
