Ayaneo posted an update for the NEXT 2 pre-order suspension. >Dear Backers, >First of all, thank you for your continued attention and support for **NEXT 2**. Since the project went live on **February 10**, more than a month has passed. We sincerely appreciate the trust and support you have shown us during this time. >**NEXT 2 represents AYANEO’s exploration of the next-generation flagship Windows gaming handheld.** It is not only a major leap in performance, but also a comprehensive evolution in design language, ergonomics, control systems, and overall user experience. Therefore, after careful consideration, we have decided to **suspend the pre-orders of NEXT 2**. >In fact, even before the launch of **NEXT 2**, storage prices had already been rising for several months. At that time, we believed the price might be approaching its peak. Even if it meant making little to no profit—or even a slight loss—we still decided to move forward with the launch. However, what we did not expect was that storage prices would not only continue to rise but would increase even more rapidly. At present, the total cost of the product has far exceeded our selling price, even approaching **twice the price we originally set**. Under such circumstances, continuing to sell this product is no longer sustainable. >At the same time, we do not want to constantly adjust the selling price due to fluctuations in component costs. We believe that continuing to sell **NEXT 2** under the current circumstances could potentially harm the interests of consumers and ultimately affect the long-term development of the brand. Therefore, we have **removed the product from all sales channels**, and consumers are no longer able to purchase **NEXT 2** on Indiegogo. >For Backers who have **already pre-ordered NEXT 2**, please rest assured that **we will continue to move forward with production as planned**. >We would also like to clarify that **this does not mean the end of the NEXT 2 product lifecycle**. I'm aware of the Next 2... but I sadly don't have much confidence in Aya Neo. A number of friends had Aya Neo devices fail within a year, and there was one flagship model (forgot which) that was poorly design and had huge thermal issues. But I am still keeping an eye out to see what they put out!

The Aya Neo Next 2 comes out this year! Should be announced soon. Internal battery design with an 8inch screen! That said I’m super excited and will preorder tmr. I actually love the external battery idea. I can replace it if it ever dies on me and have replaceable ones in case I want to have longer game sessions! I can always cancel if I get fomo.

Personally I wouldnt go for either of these due to reasons above but if you're looking into one of these devices I'd probably lean to the Apex. The Win 5 is pretty small but its also the most portable and reliable of the 3 [AYANEO is just one of the worst companies in the handheld space right now](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9FGaj8Jfxg) and although they seem to have thrown everything including the kitchen sink at the Next 2, I cant in good faith recommend them unless we see a 180 The APEX is just great a good middle ground with great everything. It has one big caveat tho which is that their current battery has some issues that they're trying to fix before the next batch of orders so I'd wait for that to get sorted first **What would I recommend?** Personally I think even the strix halo devices are a compromise and I'm currently waiting on a panther lake device to release (probably the MSI claw and also probably not anytime soon) as unlike the Strix Halo which is basically a laptop chip which is stuck into a handheld, The panther lake line is made for handheld tdp and cooling meaning we can get its sweet 30-50% performance increase over the HX370 / z2e while still having regular handheld weight and battery life

Not Steam Deck. Go with a Z2 Extreme device or if you really want the most powerful get an Ayaneo Next 2 or OneXFly Apex.
